Afternoon Delight: Wanda Sykes in “The Hot Flashes,” Angela Robinson dishes on “True Blood”

Good afternoon!

The L Word‘s Clementine Ford is starring in Phantoms Go Down, premiering at the Bootleg Theater in Los Angeles on March 29. Ford shared with her Twitter followers a link to a NSFW teaser for the upcoming show. I have no idea what’s going on in this video, but I must say I’m intrigued. (Note to Self: Self, Buy a red clown nose. Love, Self.)

Out comedian Wanda Sykes has teamed up with Brooke Shields, Daryl Hannah, Virginia Madsen and Camryn Manheim for the comedy The Hot Flashes,“about an unlikely basketball team of unappreciated middle-aged Texas women, all former high school champs, who challenge the current high school girls’ state champs to raise money for breast cancer prevention. Sparks fly as the women go to comic extremes to prove themselves on and off the court, become a national media sensation, and gain a new lease on life.” I smell and Academy Award! No release date for the film has been set, but we’ll keep you posted.

Speaking of out comedians, lesbian comedian Jennie McNulty will be headlining Out for Laughs with the Girls! on Thursday March 15 at Hunters in Palm Springs, CA.

Check out of the new international trailer for the Three Stooges featuring Jane Lynch (in nun garb) and Sofia Vergara as the villain.

Scarlett Johansson is the only female Avenger so it’s only right that she has her own movie poster for the upcoming action film. What do you think of Black Widow?

Out director Angela Robinson (D.E.B.S.) dished about working on the upcoming Season 5 of True Blood. Robinson said, “I really like writing for Sookie, I enjoy her struggle to retain a sense of normalcy in her increasingly dangerous life. And I like writing Jessica, I think the dichotomy between her natural goodness and the dark side of her vampireness is fun to explore.” When asked what’s in store in Bon Temps, Louisiana, Robinson replied, ” I am terrified to utter a peep because there are so many rabid fans out there, so I am going to remain mum on that. Suffice to say it will be awesome.” Well, duh!

Gay Video of the Day!

I usually reserve this honor for lady gays but this video of out actor George Takei doing his “happy dance” needs to be shared with the AE world.
