Afternoon Delight: GLSEN’s “Think Before You Speak” to air during the Super Bowl, Beth Ditto talks turning grief into art

Good afternoon and happy February! (Dear Trish, I hate Valentines Day! Love, Bridget.)

Happy birthday to Glee‘s Heather Morris, True Blood‘s Rutina Wesley and the Princess of Rock Lisa Marie Presley!

If you tune into this Sunday’s Super Bowl XLVI, keep your eyes out for The Gay, Lesbian & Straight Education Network (GLSEN) and The Ad Council’s award-winning PSA “Think Before You Speak.” That’s right the gays will be represented during this year’s Super Bowl! The PSA campaign aims to target anti-lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender language among teens.

It girl Jennifer Lawrence has signed on for the period film Serena, based Ron Rash’s novel of the same name. The film “takes place in 1929 North Carolina, where young newlyweds George (played by The Hangover‘s Bradley Cooper) and Serena (Lawrence) Pemberton move to build a timber empire. Their ambition is all-consuming and dangerous – neither is afraid to kill or destroy anyone who opposes them – but they’re turned against each other when Serena finds she can’t bear children and then launches a deadly vendetta against her husband’s illegitimate son.”

All right you die-hard Grey’s Anatomy fans, below is a sneak peek of the first 10 minutes of tomorrow night’s alternate universe episode “If/Then.” This video contains spoilers, spoilers and spoilers! You’ve been warned.

If you need a fix of bisexual actress Nicole Pacent (Anyone But Me), take a gander at a free sneek peek from her new lesbian drama series I Hate Tommy Finch.

Portlandia‘s Carrie Brownstein and Fred Armisen get suited up and sing for the ’90s — the 1890s, that is. As my friend Stacie Ponder would say, “These two are kookadooks!”

Out rocker Beth Ditto lost her father last summer while writing songs for The Gossip’s upcoming fifth album. The songwriter says she used her grief to create art, telling Q magazine, “…there’s some pretty sad jams on there. They’re deep. These songs, they mean a lot to me, you know? It’s a bit of a bummer.” Bummer or not I’m sure they are brilliant.

Tonight I’ll be performing at the Hollywood Improv (8162 Melrose Ave) for Gays R Us. The comedy show starts at 8 p.m. and will be hosted by lesbian comedienne extraordinaire Jennie McNulty.

Speaking of funny ladies, on February 18 The Big Gay Sketch Show‘s Julie Goldman will be headlining Shawn Pelofsky’s Bathhouse Show at The Comedy Store in West Hollywood.

Lesbian/Bi Tweet of the Day!

Out comedian Fortune Feimster might be single but she shared her love of Subway sandwiches on Twitter.
