Morning Brew – Wednesday, January 25: Kathy Griffin plays a lesbian on “Whitney,” Bianca Lawson on Emaya

Kathy Griffin is playing a lesbian named Lindsey in the new episode of Whitney. From hearing her talk about the role and seeing a clip, I have faith it will be better than Kathy’s lesbianish role on Law & Order: SVU.
Over at The Huffington Post, lesbian mystery writers Ellen Hart and Val McDermid interview each other about the publishing industry, and where they fit into it. It’s a great read, and they note that Patricia Cornwell is the only commercially successful lesbian author, which may be because she didn’t come out until after she was a best seller.
This music video from kool thing (directed by Claire Kurylowski) is super sexy. But it’s probably my favorite of 2012. I’m calling it now.
The National Enquirer says that “TV lesbian vampire” (aka Evan Rachel Wood) is going to sleep with women “even after marriage” to boyfriend Jamie Bell. This is all according an “anonymous source” who shares:
Evan says Jamie’s as open-minded as she is, so if she wants to pursue a girl she fancies, he’ll have no problem.
It sounds like a British anonymous source, so I blame Jamie and one of his friends. Or someone the Enquirer made up.
FYI the national enquirer makes me sick. I do not have an open marriage. They can take their lies and shove it. Sorry ladies.

HollywoodLife interviewed Bianca Lawson and she talks about all things Emaya. She shares this tidbit about a scene that was supposed to happen with Lindsey Shaw, but ended up not coming to fruition:
In one of the episodes I shot, there was supposed to be a Maya/Paige confrontation. It was so deliciously written, and I was so excited to meet and work with Lindsey. But then something came up – I think it was just a scheduling conflict – and it never got to happen. So that had to be sort of rewritten and changed.

Sam Ronson DJed a party at Sundance and pals Rashida Jones and Kirsten Dunst showed to try and make Sam smile. It almost happened, although that might be more like a smirk.
