Styled Out: Wear your single status on your sleeve

Did you ever wish there was some sort of automatic secret lesbian symbol that would identify a lady-loving lady in any given room? Look no further, girls; it’s apparently arrived.

Jacqueline Sharlup has designed a line of clothing and jewelry called GS Life and Style, aka “gay and single,” so that you don’t have to wonder anymore. I’m not really sure how I feel about this idea, which might surprise some of you as I’ve mentioned my dislike of femme invisibility before.

I almost prefer more classic forms of subtle identification, such as the sailor tattoo via the back of a homo’s wrist or the gesture of giving a small violet. As strange as it seems, I find those sorts of identifiers less vulgar than wearing a tacky (sorry) necklace or T-shirt. The line isn’t very versatile or even stylish, in my opinion, and at first glance, I thought it was some sort of new necklace put out by the brand G-Star Limited.

Besides, aren’t kids these days hacking off their hair in the vein of whatever Tegan and Sara haircut is in fashion to make sure their preference is on blast to their peers? I don’t know, maybe it’s just not for me but I can’t see this idea trending. To check out the full deal, visit their website.
