Afternoon Delight: A lesbian sci-fi series called “Strange Frame,” Elizabeth Banks on her “Hunger Games” voice

Good afternoon!

Happy birthday to Anna Faris (The Hot Chick) and Janina Gavankar (The L Word, True Blood).

A red-band clip from Charlize Theron’s Young Adult has arrived. In the restricted video Theron says some colorful words that are NSFW so please proceed with caution.

Actress Elizabeth Banks spoke with EW about her upcoming role as Effie Trinkett in The Hunger Games. Banks described the voice she created for Trinkett as “a combination of The Philadelphia Story and Rosalind Russell in Auntie Mame. Rosalind Russell is just amazing. It’s one of my favorite performances ever. I wanted Effie to be really theatrical. I just wanted to make sure she didn’t sound too British. She needed to be a little highfalutin.” I think casting Banks as Trinkett was a brilliant idea. Is it March yet?

Former Grey’s Anatomy star Katherine Heigl hates testicles (join the club) so much that she made a propaganda video exclusively for Funny or Die.

Want to see LGBT supporter and comedian Sarah Silverman for free? Then head over to Russell Brand’s Facebook page to get details on their free December 11 show at the Wiltern in Los Angeles. Brand and Silverman are encouraging everyone to volunteer in their community so if you dedicate your time their might be a ticket stub for you.

GetUp! Action for Australia has released a marriage equality ad called A Love Story. The two main characters on this touching short are gay men (I want to see lesbian version) and I dare you to watch this without getting emotional. (Or maybe I’m just PMSing.)

The Indigo Girls’ Amy Ray and over 120 songwriters have teamed up to select a group of new artists for the third annual 30A Songwriters Festival. All of the artists will perform in venues up and down Scenic Highway 30A in Northwest Florida on the Gulf of Mexico during Martin Luther King Jr. Weekend (January 13-15, 2012). The event is in need of volunteers to help get the word out so if you live in any of the participating cities send your full mailing address to [email protected] with the city you want to volunteer in the email’s subject line. All volunteers chosen will receive either a pair of weekend passes to the 30A Songwriters Festival or a prize pack of signed items from some of the artists.

Tonight Piper Perabo (Imagine Me & You, Covert Affairs) heads over to Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and, on Thursday, Melissa McCarthy will stop by The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.

Attention residents and neighbors of West Palm Beach Florida. The one and only Wanda Sykes is heading your way. Sykes will take the stage at the Kravis center for the Performing Arts on December 11.
