Morning Brew – Tuesday, Nov. 29: Out women at the Gotham Awards, lesbians on tonight’s “Last Man Standing”

Happy Tuesday everyone!

I just watched Pariah last night and, damn, was it good! Please go see it when it comes out around Christmas. You won’t regret it.

Speaking of the film, director Dee Rees won for Breakthrough Director at last night’s Gotham Awards in New York City. Here she is posing with her cast.

Also in attendance, Sarah Paulson with her Martha Marcy May Marlene co-star Elizabeth Olsen.

Tonight on Last Man Standing, Tim Allen’s character meets his lesbian neighbors and gasp! finds he has stuff in common with them. Said neighbors are played by Andrea Bendwald and Emily Rutherford.

Whichever one of you broke into Samantha Ronson’s garage, can you please return “the item worth about $1000” you stole? Thanks!

Both Ellen DeGeneres and Joan Jett have lent their faces to PETA’s new stamp collection. Now even your mail can be super gay!

Tracie Thoms talked with Broadway.com about her iconic role in Rent. First, she said she was too young to play the part when she originally wanted to:

…Joanne is one of the older characters, and when Rent was happening I was auditioning over and over and over again, I was just too young. I was 21 trying to be a lesbian lawyer. The lesbian part wasn’t a problem, but lawyer? That was problematic. I had to grow into it.

She also talked about her on-screen girlfriend:

And I got to put my hands on her while she was wearing rubber. It’s a perk of the job! People were like, “What’s it like for a straight girl to play a lesbian?” and I said “Well, Idina Menzel is my girlfriend, so it’s easy.”

Truer words were never spoken.

Ellen and Portia de Rossi are looking to buy Brad Pitt’s old digs in Malibu, right on the Pacific Ocean. I’m available for parties, guys!

So many jokes to be made, but I’ll refrain: Rosie O’Donnell was spotted giving girlfriend Michelle Rounds a ride on her motorcycle. The couple also recently spent Thanksgiving together, helping out at Gloria and Emilio Estefan’s 4th Annual Thanksgiving event.

Miley Cyrus and Shay Mitchell are the latest celebs to become part of NOH8. Check out some behind-the-scenes photos of their shoots.

Queen Latifah has a new rumored girlfriend: Dancer/choreographer Eboni Nichols. Do with this information what you will. I am just the messenger!
