Morning Brew – Monday, Nov. 7: Amber Rose plays a butch lesbian in “Gang of Roses 2,” k.d. lang thinks Bieber is hot

Good morning friends!

Rob Reiner is making a film about the Prop 8 trial and surrounding efforts to legalize marriage in California. I know a handful of couples who were able to marry while it was legal there and I’m sure Reiner does, too!

Game of Thrones‘ first season will be available for purchase on DVD soon and if you haven’t watched the show yet, I suggest you do. I’m a huge fan and there are also random lesbian elements to it – like Lip Service‘s Roxanne McKee teaching Emilia Clarke (the Piper Perabo lookalike) how to get it on. Emilia recently talked about the scene, saying:

That was the most tricky, I found. I think it was because Dany found it tricky. Obviously with the much stronger scenes Dany had to go into a different mind state to try to escape it, so I did as well.

Dany is the character she plays, FYI. I bet Roxanne had no problems in the scene, as she’s a pro by now.

k.d. lang was asked if Justin Bieber is “hot or not” while on RoveOnline. Her answer:

Justin Bieber looks like a lesbian. So I’m going to say – hot as sh-t.

This is made extra amazing by the fact she’s sitting next to LL Cool J and Michael C. Hall. Here’s the clip.

The Long Island Press asked Eddie Murphy why there are so many lesbian jokes in his new film Tower Heist. His response:

Um, about the behind the scenes lesbian improv-ing…I don’t remember specifics. I know that a lot of it went on!

I don’t know what that means exactly, but I’m not willing to see the movie to find out.

Bisexual model Amber Rose is trying her hand at acting, including a new role in Gang of Roses 2 where she plays “a bounty hunter who is also a butch lesbian.” Amber told BET

…which was super cool, because even though I dress androgynous sometimes, I’m really feminine. So I had to hang out with [boyfriend] Wiz [Khalifa] and the guys, and study their mannerisms. I even had a speech coach to help make my voice deep.

Downton Abbey is a hugely popular British series based in the Edwardian era and someone who is no stranger to that time thinks there is a missed opportunity for some lesbian characters on the show. Sarah Waters says:

I think they missed an opportunity with the First World War. They could have had a nice lesbian ambulance driver. It’s a shame the only gay character is a “bad” one. I think he could be saved by the love of a good man.

She knows what she’s talking about! But there will be another season of the show, so there’s room for that lesbian EMT.

If you don’t usually watch 2 Broke Girls, you should tune in tonight for the episode penned by Liz Feldman. WIll the word “vagina” be used more? Less? Also, the guest star is Marsha Thomason (White Collar).
