Happy 51st birthday to comedian and LGBT activist Kathy Griffin!
What are you plans for Thanksgiving? How about spending your holiday with Lady Gaga? ABC has announced they will be airing a new 90-minute special called A Very Gaga Thanksgiving directed by and starring the Mother Monster. During the show, Gaga will sing to a live turkey, then she’ll pluck and skin it on air and during her finale she’ll emerge wearing the turkey’s feathers and beak. Just kidding! But seriously, if she did that I wouldn’t be shocked.
The show will premiere on Thanksgiving night and will feature eight guest artists, including crooner Tony Bennett. Gaga will sing some holiday music, a few of her own songs and then she’ll sit down with Katie Couric for an intimate interview at her alma mater, the Sacred Heart Catholic School in Manhattan. To catch all the festivities, tune in on Thursday, November 24 at 9:30 pm.
Congratulations to Kristen Stewart and her Twilight co-stars Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner for permanently imprinting their hands and feet in cement at the famed Grauman’s Chinese Theater. Stewart stepped in the cement with a pair of checkered Vans and said, “This is the coolest thing I’ve ever done in my life.” On a related note, People magazine has the scoop on why Stewart’s sex scene had to be reshot in the upcoming Breaking Dawn movie.
At last night’s London premiere of Rum Diary, out actress Amber Heard rocked a sleek cream-colored gown that fit her like a glove. Hubba hubba! (p.s. Her dress reminds me of the bad guy’s black latex suit in American Horror Story. Am I alone on that?)
Academy Award-nominated actress and Albert Nobbsa star Glenn Close will appear on tonight’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. Close will work with the show’s cast on building a new home for an Iraq war veteran suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder. (I get it Glenn, you’re awesome in every way.) The transformation begins at 8 p.m. on ABC.
Chloe Moretz (Kick-Ass, Let Me In) is on the cover of Interview magazine’s November issue. The 14-year-old actress sat down with Charlie’s Angels producer Drew Barrymore for an in-depth interview.
And speaking of Barrymore, Forbes magazine named her the most overpaid movie star. Ouch! Forbes calculated each star’s earnings, the film budgets and then factored in the movie’s profit to compose their list of who’s not worth their big paycheck. Eddie Murphy ranked second, Will Ferrell came in third, Reese Witherspoon took the fourth place spot and Denzel Washington ranked fifth.
On Saturday, November 5 at 1 p.m. SNL alum Molly Shannon will read from and sign her new children’s book called Tilly the Trickster at Barnes & Noble located at The Grove (189 Grove Drive) in Los Angeles. And on Wednesday, November 9, The Office’s Mindy Kaling will be at the same B&N having her own discussion and book signing for her new book Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? (And Other Concerns.) Both events are free but you should arrive early if you want to get a seat.
On Saturday, December 10, singer Aimee Mann will be at The Wiltern in Los Angeles for her 6th annual Christmas show. Tickets went on sale this morning so if you want to hear Mann sing about how Santa is a bully to Rudolph, then purchase your ticket sooner than later because this show will sell out.
Today and tomorrow, the Los Angeles Women’s Network is gathering supplies for Los Angeles’s LGBTQ youth. If you’re in the area consider helping out.
Video of the Day:
Late night talk show host Conan O’Brien officiated the wedding of his longtime staff costume designer Scott Cronick and his partner David Gorshein on last night’s Conan. (O’Brien and his crew were in New York, where gay marriage is recognized.) O’Brien performed a moving ceremony in front of 3,000 people at New York’s Beacon Theater. I dare you to watch this video and not tear up. Congratulations to Scott and David!
Have a great weekend!
