Morning Brew – Wednesday, Oct. 5: Ellen talks coming out on “The Today Show,” Rosie on her new lady love

Happy Hump Day, humpers!

Rosie O’Donnell’s new show starts next Monday and I couldn’t be more thrilled. She just told People how in love she is with her new gf, too!

I did not expect it when I met her at Starbucks. She didn’t look like any lesbian I’d ever met. But it’s fun and very exciting.

I wonder if Michelle (Rosie’s new gal pal) approached her, then. Because everyone knows Rosie’s a lesbian.

Ellen and Portia look a little awkward on their new cover of Architectural Digest, but I’m definitely buying it to see the ins and outs of their home.

Speaking of Ellen, you should watch this interview of her with The Today Show.

In case you can’t watch, you should know what she had to say about coming out when she did.

It’s the best — because I’m free. I’m completely able to be exactly who I am. Everybody knows who’s gay in this business. Let’s face it. I mean, we could sit here, if the cameras weren’t rolling, and name all the people that we know are gay in this business. So if it wasn’t public knowledge, and I was sitting here having this interview because I’m selling my book, I would be scared to death that you were gonna catch me in something. I’d be scared to death that you’re gonna ask me and I’d be figuring out how I’m gonna dodge that, and what I’m gonna say. And just, it’s so ridiculous. And so to have to hide anything is just a horrible way to live. And I think you’re selling your soul to the devil to just to have fame and have money and have, you know, whatever.

When Evan Rachel Wood doesn’t have to get all dolled up for a premiere, she’s sticking with comfortable. I hear ya, girl.

Tori Amos continues to be a lesbian fan favorite, so it’s no surprise she would be totally fine if her daughter came out to her.

“[S]he knows very well what I think. I had a chat with her once that if she ever came home and said she was a lesbian then that’s her choice. And she said to me: “Mom, I’m not a lesbian. Black guys are hot.”

Sounds like my sister! And then I was right next to her saying, “But I am a lesbian!” So we’re all set.

Heather Cassils was Lady Gaga’s prison yard butch in the “Telephone” video. Now she’s blogging about her art for The Huffington Post, with a video included. It’s all about strength training, which looks really hard and unpleasant.

Beth Behrs said she’s not sure that her character will fall for Kat Dennings on 2 Broke Girls like we think she might.

Seriously? That’s kind of amazing. I don’t know where the series is going, because the writers are very secretive; we don’t see the script until the table read. But we kind of like are like an old married couple. That’s true.

I mean, at some point they need to just realize they’re in love, right?

Jessie J has signed on to be a judge of the UK version of The Voice. How cool!

Lesbian-themed film Cloudburst is picking up awards in Canada at film festivals. Still can’t wait to see it.
