Morning Brew – Thursday, Sept. 29: Jillian Michaels on dating a twin, Patty Schemel and family in “Gay Parent”

Hi guys!

I went to see Tig Notaro last night and did a lot of laughing, shaking my head and clapping my hands. That’s what I do when I think something is hilarious. She did some jokes from hew new comedy album Good One but also did a lot of off-the-cuff audience play. Check her out if she comes to a stage near you and be prepared to be made fun of and to hear some “stool jokes.”

Jillian Michaels tells Redbook magazine she has someone in her life, but she’s not saying who. And she won’t even give you a pronoun to work with.

I’m adopting as a single parent. I am seeing someone, [but] I keep their life private, because the email has been hacked, the Facebook has been hacked….

The only clue she gives is this:

I’m dating someone who’s a twin, so it’s like, “Your relationship with your twin really intimidates me because you guys share everything.” If you can’t be vulnerable, how can you work on something? How can it improve?

Someone who isn’t thinking of babies yet is Sara Ramirez. But when she’s asked about it by Latina magazine, here’s what she had to say:

I’m not expressing anything negative or positive about it necessarily. I’m thinking about it, and I’m really taking it very seriously, because I feel that when you bring a child into the world, it’s a very, very big responsibility. I’m very aware of how old I am and I’m very aware of what that means in terms of statistics, and so, yes, I’m considering it. The clock’s ticking and I totally hear it! At the end of the day, I’m a much more giving person in my 30s than I would have been in my 20s. I’ll be a lot clearer about who I am and what I want and how to give unconditional love and attention to a child.

But what she’s really saying is “Not trying to give Calzona another mouth to feed right now.”

Lesbian and former U.S. poet laureate Kay Ryan has won the $500,000 Genius Award from the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation. That’s some expensive poetry!

Pariah director Dee Rees sat down with MakingOf to discuss getting the film made and sold to a distributor, so that we can all see it in December.

The National Enquirer says Rosie is upset about being Photoshopped on the cover of O magazine. I don’t believe it – unless she’s upset she’s being covered by a curtain and it wasn’t part of the plan. That would be a little strange.

Massive Corrie spoiler RIGHT HERE. But a good one – maybe. You never know with soaps.

AE reader Senisa sent us this tip that Cartoon Network’s Adventure Time with Jake and Finn did some talking about lesbian subtext! You can watch the clip over at her blog.

Out musician Patty Schemel and her family are on the cover of Gay Parent magazine. You can grab a copy over at gayparentmag.com.
