While Glee‘s Jane Lynch prepares to host the 63rd Primetime Emmy Awards (she’s only the third woman in history to host the show solo), she’s also on the cover of The Advocate‘s October issue. Lynch discusses the new season of Glee, her memoir Happy Accidents and her lesbian love scenes with Cybill Shepherd on The L Word.

Lynch said, “It was her (Shepherd) first love scene with a woman. Of course, we were both clothed because no one wants to see us middle-aged broads flopping around in bed. I had one love scene under my belt, and I’m a lesbian in actual life, so I’m sure she expected me to take the lead, which I did. She was absolutely wonderful and open to the challenge. We both had a good time.”

If you tune into Sunday’s award show you’ll also see a slew of female presenters including Glee‘s Lea Michele, Amy Poehler, The Good Wife‘s Julianna Margulies, Sofia Vergara and BridesmaidsMelissa McCarthy. The Emmys will air on Sunday, September 18 at 8/7c on FOX.

She told the mag, “As soon as I finished the script, I knew that I wanted to do it, and then I spent six months trying to talk myself out of it. But I always knew that I never really had a choice. I’ve started to believe that you get the piece of material that you were ready for.” Wait, so if I sent her the script for Season 2 of McManusLand she’d automatically sign on to do the project? Does anyone have Michelle Williams’s mailing address?

In a Tennessee high school, a senior student tried to start a Gay-Straight Alliance Group and, after meeting with the principal numerous times, he tried to take matters into his own hands and was threatened with suspension. In protest, other students started an Anti-Gay Straight Alliance Group. Watch the below video and try not to be as outraged as I am.

Last night Dee Rees‘ award winning film Pariah took The TIFF Toronto Film Festival by storm. Rees (left) posed with the film’s producer Nekisa Cooper at last night’s festivities. Pariah opens in NY, LA and SF theaters on December 25 and expands across the country this winter. There’s a reason we’ve been championing Rees and her film (in all its incarnations) since 2007. Go see it!
