Morning Brew – Monday, August 8: Dana Delany wants to go back to “Housewives,” Portia & Ellen at the Teen Choice Awards

Good morning!

Did you have a nice week while I was away? Thanks to Heather Hogan for holding down the Brew. And if you enjoyed her taking over, you’ll be psyched to hear she’s going to be doing it tomorrow through Friday, as I will be out of town again.

But I did not come back from LA empty handed. First, let me tell you we have tons of Glee stuff for you guys. I talked with Naya Rivera, Lea Michele and Heather Morris at the Fox TCA Party on Saturday, and another writer of us got even more scoop from them at the Glee Live 3D movie premiere yesterday. It’s like Christmas!

Some other highlights: Amber Heard telling me how much she loves AfterEllen.com and that she’s so psyched to be on a progressive show like The Playboy Club, where the gay storyline is a major priority; asking Kathy Griffin why she doesn’t love lesbians as much as gay men, only to have her ask me “How can you f—ing say that to me?” (she was kidding); and Lily Tomlin telling me about the part she was offered on The L Word. (You can read about that in my interview with her later today.)

Also, you know I had to ask if The Real L Word would be renewed for a third season. Here’s what Showtime President of Entertainment David Nevins had to say:

Haven’t made a decision on Real L Word. I think the show made some very interesting creative adjustments this year and I think in a lot of really good ways. I think it became more distinctive and more about a specific subculture. I found it to be much more interesting in Season 2. I like it. I like reality. I think our reality is a little bit more going into a world, explore a world, and maybe a little bit more docu in it. But I think that show’s been a good show for us, and it’s an audience we’ve had a long relationship with and it’s been good for us.

Sounds like it could go either way right now. It’s probably because Claire is so likable.

Last night was the Teen Choice Awards and The DeGeneres family was looking pretty swell in the audience.

Whichever one of you is stalking Marion Cotillard, please cut it out. Lesbian stalkers are so passe!

This might come as a huge shock to you, but Lady Gaga is passionately outspoken about wanting gay marriage to be legal on a federal level. I love that she can have green hair and still be taken seriously.

Speaking of Gaga, this is the cover for her new single, “You and I.” It’s her male alter ego, Jo Calderone!

Above I spoke of Ms. Amber Heard, who is in Nylon Guys magazine this month for a photospread where she also talks about starring in horror films and why she prefers to play something a little more exciting than just the sexy girl. (For the record, she still does that very well.)

It’s worse than we thought, guys! Olivia Wilde will only be back for one or two episodes of House this year. Thirteen, you are so unlucky.

Desperate Housewives will be over after this season, but Dana Delany wants to come back to Wisteria Lane one more time before it all ends. She told TV Guide:

I would love to come back for one episode just to sort of wrap things up with Katherine. I want to know that she’s happy. A happy lesbian. Wouldn’t that be nice?

Paging Marc Cherry! Get on this! I bet Julie Benz would come back for that very same episode, proving Robin and Katherine ended up together. (Did anyone see Julie play one half of a lesbian couple on Royal Pains last week? I love her.)
