Afternoon Delight: Olivia Wilde eats her feelings, Kathryn Bigelow’s new thriller

Happy birthday to Boys Don’t Cry actress Jeannetta Arnette! Arnette played ChloĆ« Sevigny‘s mother in the award-winning film.

Olivia Wilde‘s new movie Cowboys & Aliens comes out today. She stars in the sci-fi action film alongside Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford. I will be seeing the movie tonight and I hope the aliens win.

With two summer blockbuster films (she also stars in The Change-Up), Wilde’s career is soaring but the House actresses opened up about her real life pain and her divorce in August’s issue of Nylon magazine.

Wilde told Nylon:

I got a divorce and self-medicated with food, but I figure that’s better than self-medicating with crack cocaine.

I also medicate with food. When my grandmother died I gained 30 pounds. And I can’t afford cocaine.

Last night, Lady Gaga performed on Fox’s So You Think You Can Dance and then headed over to Jimmy Kimmel Live to perform two songs from her album, Born This Way. Doesn’t Gaga ever get tired? Check out Gaga’s performance of “You and I.”

The Voice‘s Vicci Martinez has signed with Universal and is working on her first album! Martinez told Entertainment Weekly:

There’s a few [writing] groups that I’m working with. At first it’s kind of like a first date, you meet up with somebody and see if you connect and can make anything out of the project. So far, almost everyone I’ve met with has been great. There has been so much work coming out.

Martinez described the sound of her album by saying: ”It’s kind of like a driving rock-soul record or rock-pop-soul.”

If you’re in Las Vegas (I hate Vegas), Martinez will be performing tomorrow night (Saturday, July 30) at the MGM Grand Hotel at 7:30 p.m.

Congratulations to director Maryam Keshavrz and her film, Circumstance, for taking home the Best Film-Narrative Features Award at the 23rd annual New York NewFest. I have yet to see the Iranian lesbian drama but I heard it’s amazing! Circumstance will be released in select theaters on August 26.

Academy Award-winning director Kathryn Bigelow‘s new untitled film about the Navy SEAL Team Six team that hunted Osama bin Laden has finally been given a release date. (They should probably settle on a movie name pretty soon.) Sony Pictures will release the thriller on October 12, 2012. Although I adore Bigelow, I won’t be seeing this film.

The Frisky posted an article entitled “8 Celebs Who’ve Opened Up About Their Lesbian Affairs.” Obviously, I was intrigued. Who are the eight ladies that made The Frisky list? Denise Richards, Angelina Jolie, Courtney Love, Fergie, Spice GirlsGeri Halliwell, Kim Zolciak, Megan Fox and HeroesHayden Panettiere. Panettiere once said:

It’s great to be single. It’s great to have boyfriends. Or girlfriends. There are occasions when you kiss your best friend growing up, having fun and goofing about. Like perfecting your technique.
