Morning Brew – Friday, July 8: Emma Stone would date a girl, Lesbian Who Looks Like Justin Bieber on “America’s Got Talent”

Happy Friday!

Justin Beiber lookalike/out singer-songwriter Dani Shay sang her “Baby” parody “What the Hell” on America’s Got Talent and made it through to the Vegas round. Here’s her first audition in Houston:

And last night, she made it through another round with her version of Ray Lamontagne’s “Trouble.” Catch her next week on Tuesday’s live show on NBC.

Oxygen might soon be airing a reality show about Atlanta lesbians. According to The GA Voice, the network came to film a promo with out DJ M at one of her Traxx Girls parties last month. From the story:

The show follows these women, who identify as lesbian, bisexual and queer, as they connect with each other, fight with each other, and continue to climb the ladders of their respective careers.

“We’re at the top of our career paths,” DJ M says. “And we all have a racy, fast-moving lifestyle. This show is important for mainstream audiences to see.”

It sounds like an even more lesbian version of Bad Girls Club, except they have jobs!

Emma Stone loves the ladies! She told The Advocate her girl crush is Christina Hendricks (“It’s a no-brainer. Everything about her does it for me. That’s my kind of woman.”) and that she is flattered by lesbian fans.

The tomboy quality is probably coincidental just due to the fact that my voice hits male octaves most of the time. I don’t really think about it – I just respond to what I read – but I must be subconsciously drawn to women who, even if they don’t necessarily have their shit together, are secure within themselves and don’t need a man to fix them.

She’s also not closing herself off to meeting Ms. Right.

No, I don’t have a girlfriend. But who knows? You love who you love…In some friendships there’s so much love between two people that there’s just a fine line. Hey, I have girlfriends that I’m incredibly close to, and there’s definitely a fine line there.

OK girls! Line up behind me, single file.

Maja Ivarsson has a tattoo of a comic book heroine on her arm. She told Inked:

My favorite tattoo must be the Modesty Blaise I have on my forearm. I did it in Los Angeles at Shamrock Tattoo on my birthday when I turned 24. I’ve always been a big fan of that comic book figure. She’s not really well-known here in America.

I need to look into this character.

Elle Magazine is reporting that Freja Beha Erichsen has a new gal pal. How do they know?

Our Market Director, Joann Pailey said word on the street (or in the front row of Chanel couture’s show at the Grand Palais) was that model of the moment, Arizona Muse, is dating model of every moment, Freja Beha Erichsen.

OK, Joann. I will trust you, but only because I really want to.

Janelle Monae is still playing coy about her orientation. She told This is London:

I only date androids. … I speak about androids because I think the android represents the new “other.”You can compare it to being a lesbian or being a gay man or being a black woman … What I want is for people who feel oppressed or feel like the “other” to connect with the music and to feel like,”‘She represents who I am.”

In due time, when I’m ready to have a family and be out in the public with my family. As for now, my music, my performance, my voice, my message and what I’m representing as a young African-American woman is what’s most important.

I like what you’ve got going on, Ms. Monae.
