Afternoon Delight: A new EP from Uh Huh Her, Lady Gaga apologizes

Good Afternoon!

Yesterday it was reported that Lindsay Lohan was no longer being considered to play Victoria Gotti in the upcoming Mafia family movie, Gotti: Three Generations. Well that’s still the case, but Radar is reporting that Lohan has signed on the dotted line and agreed to play Kim Gotti instead. (Kim Gotti is the daughter-in-law of the late don John Gotti.) Lohan told the Associated Press, “I’m really excited to be back on set and clear up all the misinterpretations about me and show this is what I love to do. I think it’s such an iconic story. I’m honored to be working with John Travolta and Joe Pesci.”

I’m glad Lohan is back to work but I refuse to write anything else about the Lohan/Gotti on-again-off-again drama until I actually see Lohan’s face in the movie trailer!

Leisha Hailey and Camila Grey‘s band Uh Huh Her released their latest album, Black and Blue, this week. The six-song EP was produced by Grey and is available to purchase via their website. You can also download it via iTunes.

Late last night I found a little gem on television. The Ditty Bop‘s Amanda Barrett is starring in a Wells Fargo commercial as an independent ice cream maker. (That is a perfect role for her.) I’ve scoured the Internet to find the commercial for you all to watch but, alas, I’ve had no luck. Turn on your DVRs and start watching your television commercials closely and let me know if you see Barrett. The Grammy-nominated Ditty Bops (and real life married couple) have performed with Bob Dylan and Natalie Merchant and have a show next Wednesday, April 27 at 8 pm at The Hotel CafĂ© in Hollywood.

Deadline reports that Underworld star Kate Beckinsale has been offered the role of Lori in the Total Recall remake. (Why are they remaking this movie?) The original Lori was played by Sharon Stone. I think Beckinsale should also play Catherine Tramell in Basic Instinct 3. The third film will be set in the interrogation room and will only exist in my dreams.

As we’ve previously reported, Emily Deschanel stars alongside Kathleen Turner in the upcoming indie drama The Perfect Family. Turner plays a meddling controlling Catholic mother while Deschanel plays her pregnant lesbian daughter. As Marbles Harsgrove would say, “Good luck with that!”

Check out this clip from the film, which debuts April 24 at the Tribeca Film Festival:

Last night I witnessed a rousing performance by rocker Bitch, who took the stage with an electric violin and an alligator. Yes, an alligator in Los Angeles. Bitch is currently heading to Vegas, so if you’re in the area check her out tonight at 7 pm at Don’t Tell Mama (517 Fremont Street).

In case you couldn’t tell from my last name, I am Irish. On Monday my people (yes, I have my own people. Jealous?), the Irish LGBT rights group Noise, launched a new campaign aimed at marriage equality. Today, their newest poster, stating, “Jesus Had Two Dads,” was placed in Dublin’s public transit.

Out model Jenny Shimizu will be hanging with a posse of lesbos tonight:

I’m sure they will let Shimizu in and allow her to sit at the adult table. I, however, will be at the kids’ table in the corner, coloring.

Time magazine’s 2011 “100 Most Influential People in the World” issue is out. Which lovely ladies made the list? Amy Poehler, Michelle Obama, Blake Lively (really?), Hillary Clinton, Oprah and Patti Smith. (What about J.K. Rowling and Jane Lynch?) Check out the full list at Time.com.

Lady Gaga has made a public apology for using the word “retarded” when describing the comparisons between her and Madonna’s music. (I would LOVE to be compared to Madonna!) Gaga says, “I consider it part of my life’s work and music to push the boundaries of love and acceptance. My apologies for not speaking thoughtfully. To anyone that was hurt, please know that it was furiously unintentional. An honest mistake, requires honesty to make. Whether life’s disabilities, left you outcast bullied or teased, rejoice and love yourself today.” Are you offended by what Gaga said? If so, do you accept her apology?

Do you miss Battlestar Galactica as much as I do? Well lucky for us Katee Sackhoff and Tricia Helfer have teamed up once again. This time the ladies have joined forces as the Acting Outlaws for The LA La Ride, a documentary about their motorcycle journey from Los Angeles, CA to New Orleans, LA.

Sackhoff and Helfer mounted their motorcycles and took the 3,500 mile Easy Rider route to raise awareness about the BP oil spill disaster in the Gulf. Watch this exclusive behind-the-scenes video of Sackhoff and Helfer as they view their footage and give themselves notes. Their full-length documentary will be out later this year.

My favorite part of this clip is when Sackhoff takes notes while drinking a martini and stabbing at an olive with a pencil, telling us, “I learned that in high school. What’s up bitches?” I know these two aren’t gay, but a girl can dream can’t she?

Check out God-Des and She‘s new music video for “Love Machine.” Is it just me or are they channeling Grease?
