Afternoon Delight: A sample of the “Grey’s Anatomy” musical episode, the science of lesbian comedy

TVGuide.com has an exclusive (meaning we can’t embed it here) video preview of the “Grey’s Anatomy: The Music Event,” episode set to air Thursday, March 31 at 9/8c on ABC. I’m really looking forward to hearing the cast sing. I have this idea that Arizona would sound like Kristen Chenoweth (no pressure, Jessica Capshaw).

Check out this NSFW clip from Ellen Page‘s new movie, Super (and settle down b/c the NSFW-ness of it is due to language, not nudity or “adult situations”):

In misguided but perhaps well-meaning news, Scientific American thinks lesbians (and “butch” straight women) are “over-represented” in the comedy world. I could make a joke about how the only places we’re ever over-represented are in TV shows with pregnancy storylines, among the ranks of UPS workers or in angry online discussions about The Kids Are All Right, but I think joking would only serve to further over-represent us in comedy. So I shall (grudgingly) refrain. (Thanks for the tip, Kaki!)

New York Women in Film & Television is hosting the event “By Women, For Women: The Lunar Eclipse of Female-Centric Online Content” this Thursday at 6:30 pm. The organization has assembled a panel of female internet content creators committed to breaking “barriers in creativity, story development and production quality” to share their stories and help attendees “discover how you can find your place in this expanding segment of the entertainment industry.” Panelists include Susan Miller and Tina Cesa Ward (Anyone But Me, Bestsellers) and Leila Cohan-Miccio (Vag Mag).

I’ve never watched The Mighty Boosh and don’t know much about Noel Fielding, but those things in no way impair my ability to enjoy his Let’s Dance For Comic Relief parody of those Kate Bush videos from the olden days:

Wolfe Video has announced that festival-favorite Bloomington will be available on DVD May 1.

Neatorama.com has a list of “18 Facts You Might Not Know About Buffy the Vampire Slayer.” I suspect that “might” is the operative word here, because obsessive loyal lesbian/bi Buffy fans really do know everything about the show. Please test your knowledge and get back to me.

According to our sibling site, AfterElton.com, last night’s Oscars show was gayer than we thought.

The recently completed Le Tigre documentary Who Took the Bomp?: Le Tigre On Tour, which follows the group on their 2004 tour, comes out on DVD on June 7. Directed by Kerthy Fix, the film premieres at the SXSW festival next month will screen April 4 at New York’s Museum of Modern Art.

This new commercial from IGN is making me reconsider my “video games are boring” stance:

That never happens when I play Rock Band! Maybe they should consider re-releasing RB with the option to acquire groupies.

If you’re in Chicago tonight, head over to Mary’s Attic for the Chicago premiere of Cowgirl Up. Stars Maribeth Monroe and Butch Jerinic will be on hand and there will be a special performance from “Breast in Show” by GayCo Productions. The event is free and Trish Bendix is rumored to be attending as well. Make her buy you a drink!
