Morning Brew – Tuesday, Feb. 22: “Real Housewives of Miami” promise “non-heterosexual women,” Rosie is single again

Morning!

Minnie Driver has been cast as the lead in Hail Mary, the CBS pilot that Ilene Chaiken is working on. EW.com reports Minnie will play, “a suburban single mom who teams up with a street-smart hustler to solve crimes.” Yep, a little different from The L Word.

When you watch Basic Instinct, are you thinking about how much you like Sharon Stone’s wardrobe? If so, then you might be into this post from Clothes on Film. What I found most interesting about the piece was the discussion on Sharon’s female lover in the film, Roxy, and the genesis of her clothing.

For the most part Roxy is more mannishly attired compared to the two female leads. She wears slim leg black jeans and trousers with Cuban heel boots, vests and a biker leather jacket. If there is a parallel between Roxy’s lesbianism (she is not bi) and masculinity, then [costume designer Ellen] Mirojnick maintains “That was not the intention. The character of Roxy was written with a certain tone.

Can’t you just see their meeting? “Leather jacket? Check.”

Rosie O’Donnell and Tracy Kachtick-Anders have split up, according to the New York Post. Rosie’s rep tells the paper:

Rosie and Tracy never officially lived under one roof. They have lived near one another for quite some time, and their families still socialize and they see each other frequently.

Another “source” said: “They have definitely split up, but it is very complicated because their kids are very close. They still spend a lot of time together.”

Speaking of Rosie-related break-ups, her other ex, Kelli, is featured in Go Magazine‘s Captivating Couples feature with her partner, Anne. They met on an R Family Vacation, of all places!

Looks like Beverly Hills isn’t the only city giving us some lesbian content this season. The Real Housewives of Miami are gearing up for their first season premiere, and Lea Black tells RadarOnline that there will definitely be some gay in the mix.

Lots of my girlfriends are not heterosexual so it’s an interesting mix of interesting people that are very liberal socially.

“Not heterosexual” like Danielle Staub or not heterosexual like Kim Zolciak? That’s a trick question — hopefully they are not like either of those faux-bisexuals.

Ellen DeGeneres told People that she’d love to host her own animal show.

I would interview animals. I’d be a talk show host for animals.

I have a feeling it would be a little one-sided, but still a success.
