Sara Quin has collaborated on a track with MC Theophilus London. It’s called “Why Even Try” and it’s hot. I’m hoping she shows up in a video for the song. (Thanks for the tip, Janay!)
In other music news, girlfriends/talented musicians Mirah and Thao are collaborating on a new album called, appropriately, Thao & Mirah. It will come out on Kill Rock Stars April 26. Yessss.
This Saturday, Amber Heard will be DJing in Los Angeles at a party called PISTOL.
I wonder if she’s getting tips from pal (and sometimes DJ) Michelle Rodriguez.
Rosie O’Donnell says she watches Teen Mom with her 13-year-old daughter. She told US Weekly: “At the end of almost every episode the mothers say they wish they used protection or waited, ‘My whole life is over,’ or ‘I can’t live the life of a teenager.’ I think it sends out a positive message.” The message: Use protection, ladies. Or embrace being a lesbian.
Australia’s Star Observer has penned a piece on the “golden future” of lesbian film. They talk with University of Newcastle lecturer Dr. Rebecca Beirne, who is researching lesbian representation in cinema, about how things are looking up.
OK, good. So we’re all on the same page.
One of my favorite things about Kalinda on The Good Wife is her incredible wardrobe. The Herald-Sun talked with series costume designer Daniel Lawson about the choices they make for Archie Panjabi‘s character. “Kalinda’s wardrobe comes from a variety of places,” Lawson said, “but a few of the stores that I use to find some of her signature pieces include Saks Fifth Avenue, Bergdorf Goodman, Karen Miller and Elie Tahari.” A girl with expensive tastes!
The Point Foundation is honoring Margarethe “Grethe” Cammermeyer, former colonel in the Washington National Guard and gay rights advocate and the woman who wrote the novel and inspired the film Serving in Silence, with the Point Legend Award. From the press release:
Well deserved, Margarethe. Congrats!
If you’re planning on watching All About Aubrey on Oxygen, you might care about the women of the show, as highlighted in this video. You’ll see a photo of Aubrey and friend Krystal in the sauna together, which Aubrey told me at TCA is a sexy scene. I don’t know if that means they decide to get freaky or they are just both naked in a sauna at the same time. Either way, it seems her friends like together and cuddle naked, at least when a photographer is around.
Girl Bar’s Dinah Shore Weekend has released some details on their events coming up this March-April. There will be a night of comedy with Erin Foley, Liz Feldman, Michelle Buteau, Stamie K. and Tracy Ryerson. (Yes, Tracy is listed on the list of comedians, but I’m pretty sure she’ll just be there to, you know, be there.)
Also performing that weekend: the girls of Truck Stop and singer Wynter Gordon.
Looking for some new moves at the gym? You can get some tips from two gay ladies in two different places this month.
