Morning Brew – Tuesday, January 4: First photos from “Codependent Lesbian Space Alien Seeks Same,” uproar over “Corrie” kiss

Good morning!

Congrats to Rev. Mally Lloyd and Rev. Katherine Hancock Ragsdale on their nuptials in Massachusetts this week. Theirs is the first of their kind in the state, with two high-ranking Episcopal lesbian priests getting wed. Rev. Lloyd told the press exactly what I was thinking: she hopes people will see it “a commitment and marriage like any other.” Still, pretty cool that there were so many of their parishioners there in support.

US Weekly is reporting that Lindsay Lohan has moved right next door to ex-girlfriend Samantha Ronson. “A source” says that Sam isn’t to psyched on it, and Us notes that Sam told photographers she doesn’t have a New Year’s Resolution because “I’m too pissed off right now.” Yikes. This could either have nothing or everything to do with Lindsay. Only Sam knows which.

Some UK viewers are upset that Sophie and Sian shared a “raunchy” kiss on the New Year’s episode of Coronation Street.

Have they just now tuned in to this show? Did they completely miss Skins, Lip Service and Sugar Rush? It’s nothing new, stick-in-the-muds. Get used to it!

Out UK TV presenter Clare Balding says she is now cancer-free. On BBC Radio 2 yesterday, she announced, “I had to have a little operation just before Christmas to take out a nasty little lymph node and there was a worry that I might have to have more treatment. But I had a lovely letter from my oncologist just after Christmas saying, ‘Hurrah, no more treatment’, so I’m very happy about that.” Us too!

Codependent Lesbian Space Alien Seeks Same will make its premiere at Sundance this year, and Collider.com has the first photos from the film.

We’ll have some coverage of the movie and its debut trailer for you soon. Until then, imagine what the hell is happening in these stills.

PBS’ In the Life focuses on the Smithsonian’s Hide/Seek exhibition in their latest episode.

They also filmed a follow-up after one of the pieces of work, Fire in My Belly, was removed in an act of censorship.

Thanks to In The Life for documenting the historic show.

Jodie Foster has signed on for a new film called Elysium. Besides the fact that it’s from Neill Blomkamp (District 9), there’s not much other detail on the plot or anything else.

But we know a lot more about Amber Heard’s new horror film from John Carpenter, The Ward. Amber plays Kristen, “a young woman who apparently enjoyed a bit of pyromania before being committed to an asylum.” Check out the first trailer released.

Sara Rue told ET all about why she loves playing the lesbian character Brenda on Rules of Engagement.

am very involved in the gay community and have a ton of gay and lesbian friends. I think it is great to have more gay and lesbian characters on television and, I hope, that I can play it with as much respect for the people in that community as possible.

So when is Brenda getting a girlfriend?

We just shot an episode where there is a scene with a girlfriend, but I don’t have high hopes for that relationship. I am hoping that she will get to have a serious girlfriend.

What’s better than one girlfriend? Multiple girlfriends! Right Callie Torres?
