Morning Brew – Tuesday, November 30: Lesbians on the lam on “Chase,” Lady Gaga has more to say on DADT

Morning!

Lady Gaga has a new message regarding DADT, released before this morning’s news of the Pentagon’s study, which reported that most service members don’t care about serving with openly gay soldiers.

I appreciate how she addresses not only DADT but the suicides being directly caused by discrimination enforced by the government and, also, how she may be a pop star, but she wants to speak for her “screaming” fans. I’m gaga for Gaga.

On last night’s episode of Chase, it was lesbians on the lam! You can watch the full episode below, which followed a couple of women who were scamming bank tellers by holding their families hostage.

I know, there are several eyeroll worthy moments, but I’d like to think that Karen Nelson sucking was more about her personality than her being a predatory lesbian. Also, when will Rose Rollins’ character come out? Don’t they know how to get gay women to watch the show? (Thanks for the tip, Christin!)

The New York Times recent 100 Notable Books of 2010 only mentioned a few queer titles, including Emma Donohue’s Room and Joan Schenkar’s The Talented Miss Highsmith; but if you really want to read some of the year’s best LGBT titles, take it from the writers themselves. Blog BandofThebes compiled The Best LGBT Books of 2010: 80 Authors Select Their Favorites, and you can never say you have nothing to read again — at least for the rest of this year.

The Nation announced that Rachel Maddow has won the top honor in its 30 Media Heroes survey, as voted on by the site’s readers. That’s quite a list, made all the more awesome by the fact that she “rather easily earned the top spot in this balloting” and “led in voting from starting gate to the wire.”

At last night’s Gotham Awards, Leighton Meester opted for some menswear, which I feel obliged to share with you.

OK, now that we’ve stared at that for about five minutes, we can move on. Laurel Holloman continues to embrace her lesbian icon status by selling art at the Dinah this year. She will be attending the Club Skirts 2011 event as part of a Private Art Exhibition they are hosting this spring. You, too, can own a piece of Laurel, and then get naked, drunk and jump in the pool.

Angelina Jolie is the next celebrity getting the comic treatment by Female Force. Will it feature her bisexual past? If so, Jenny Shimizu should get a cut of the profits. The comic will be available Jan. 26.

Cowgirl Up has released a new teaser trailer. Check it out!

Out actress Kirsten Vangsness is a guest star on the web series Pretty, which follows the comedic world of pageants.
