Morning Brew: Tuesday, November 16: Heather Peace talks being the only gay on “Lip Service,” Rachel Maddow likes her job

Morning!

I know some of you thought I had Ellen all wrong for her comments on two women dancing together. Today we’ll have an entire post dedicated to the ideas discussed in the thread, from what Ellen meant to if having two women dance together is actually “weird” or not. Thanks for your comments!

The finale of Lip Service airs tonight in the UK and to help get through the sadness, Heather Peace has done an interview with The Skinny to give us some insight on the show and why she thinks she’s getting so much attention from fans. She said:

Put it this way. If Ruta [Gedmintas, who plays Frankie] was gay, I don’t think anyone would be paying me any attention at all.

Actually, hot cop, I don’t think that is true. Lesbians love straight girls — we just prefer your swagger, gay or not. (But it’s a bonus that you are.)

Jenny McCarthy knows the ticket to getting people to buy your stuff.

I’m not really sure what a “lesbian calendar” entails, but I’m pretty sure their poses would become redundant and unsexy somewhere around May.

Daniela Sea has been keeping busy by working for Eve Ensler’s V-Day project and posing for Nau clothing line.

Yes, you can wear the very clothes off her back. (Well, not those exact ones, probably.)

Latin musician Chavela Vargas is 91-years-old and still singing. She also happens to be a lesbian, which she talked about with NPR on All Things Considered. “I had to fight against so many things – fight against the current, as they say,” she said. “I had to fight all of them to make something of myself, to triumph.”

Despite our attempts to make Rachel Maddow president, it seems she isn’t interested. She told a Harvard University audience she doesn’t want to be a politician: “I’m really happy with my job.”

OK, fine. We’ll lay of you, for now.

Rosie O’Donnell took to her blog to report that she might have breast cancer, which runs in her family. She underwent a biopsy yesterday and said she will get results later this week.

There’s still time for you to enter Logo’s PSA Contest!

365gay.com went behind the scenes at the GMHC’s Fashion Forward Event in NYC this week and out fashion designer Patricia Field was on hand to discuss how to thrive in life.

First, we couldn’t go to prom; now we can’t graduate. An Oklahoma high school isn’t allowing a lesbian couple to walk with their class.

Besides the fact that I hate the newscaster’s use of “lifestyle,” I can’t get over the idea that principals are actively telling students how to live their lives. Encouraging any teenager to drop out of school? I don’t think that’s in the job description.

Today on TV: The Ellen DeGeneres Show (check local listings), The Talk (CBS 2 p.m.), Jillian Michaels on The Dog Whisperer (National Geographic 2 p.m.), Glee (Fox 8 p.m.), The Rachel Maddow Show (MSNBC 9 p.m. and midnight), Stargate: Universe(Syfy 9 p.m.) and The Good Wife (CBS 10 p.m.). (Thanks Roni!)

Have an awesome day, guys.
