Morning Brew – Tuesday, November 9: Selma Blair and Madeline Zima have an affair in “The Family Tree,” Raven Symone is not gay

Well good morning! Fancy meeting you here.

Yesterday, MediaTakeOut started rumors that some scantily-clad photos taken of Raven Symone on her phone were sent to her girlfriend, who promptly sent them to a gossip blog. But Symone later took to Twitter to sort this stuff out.

Looks like she’s neither naked or a lesbian. Sorry to disappoint any of you That’s so Raven fans.

The Skins cast are doing their best to answer all of our questions, including Sofia Black d’Elia.

Salon has a piece called “When Mom Comes Out” and it’s hilarious. It follows the writer’s initial annoyance with his mother breaking up the marriage with his father to go to Mich Fest, but later his appreciation for having two women to give him advice and food. An excerpt:

After two decades, I’ve learned to do more than accept having two moms — I’ve learned to enjoy how their differences add variety to my life. If I want to hang out with a couple of straight parents, I can go over to my dad’s house. Who needs two sets? My niece digs it, too. “I have two grandpas and four grandmas,” I’ve heard her say. My appreciation has as much to do with the maturation of their relationship as the maturation of my own attitude.

Sue Sylvester is getting married! But it won’t be to a woman — Sue isn’t a lesbian, like her alter-ego Jane Lynch.

Nylon asked Holly Miranda a few questions recently, including her favorite bands to tour with: “I loved playing with the Antlers and the XX; whenever we get to go on tour with our friends it’s more fun.”

A new film called The Family Tree has had international rights acquired by Myriad. This is great news for us because Selma Blair plays a teacher who is having an affair with her student Madeline Zima.

OK, the teacher-student thing is a bit overdone, but it looks to be a form of funny blackmail when one of Selma’s student catches them making out in the bathroom and holds onto some pictures of the incident in exchange for an A in her class. The film also stars Hope Davis and Christina Hendricks.

I think it looks awesome. It’s also directed by a woman, so that’s an added bonus.

Out designer Patricia Field is the hardest working woman in fashion. She just launched a new line of handbags, which you can find at Saks Fifth Avenue. You might want to ask Suze Orman if you can afford one, first — they run from $250 — $700 a bag.
