Morning Brew – Friday, October 29: Sofia Black D’Elia talks “Skins” and Tea, how hipsters have stolen lesbian chic

Friday, already? This means we’re only days from Halloween. Scary.

Here’s something kind of creepy: MyAnna Buring of Lesbian Vampire Killers is joining Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn as — you guessed it — a vampire. Well she could do worse when it comes to being typecast. Vampires are all the rage right now.

In a new video, Sofia Black D’Elia talks about her Skins character Tea.

Lesbian in a leather jacket count: One.

The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest opens in select theaters this weekend, and I still think Lisbeth Salander is a kick ass Halloween costume idea.

Speaking of Lisbeth, Noomi Rapace went on the Charlie Rose show this week to discuss playing her. (Thanks kickedoutdjams!)

Lesbian in a leather jacket count: Two.

In ridiculous Real Housewives news, a source tells RadarOnline.com that Danielle Staub was “physical” with Lori Michaels, but they were never in a romantic relationship. Says “the source”:

Lori doesn’t do crazy. It’s been a series of things. The truth is they both tried to make the relationship work on many levels. It’s been complicated. Danielle does her thing and Lori does hers. Lori appreciates the goodness when Danielle was able to give it, and I’m sure she appreciates what Lori has done.

Would anyone else be surprised if the source was Lori Michaels?

Cowgirl Up has finished shooting and is now in post-production, readying for a January 2011 release on the web. Here are a few pictures to entice you:

That tall brunette is kind of a looker. I wonder if she’s got a wife.

TheNewGay has a great piece on how hipsters stole our gay chicness. An excerpt:

For Lesbians, Environmentalism — It used to be that only lesbians cared about environment responsibility, recycling and Diva-cupping, but it seems now that hipsters have taken to their bikes to save to world while we are at home watching football.

Intellectualism — Lesbians are renowned for soap-boxing about political or women’s rights issues at social gatherings, but now it seems that we aren’t the only ones spewing angry rants over kegs.

Non-traditional Employment — It also used to be that if a woman was in the Peace Corps or worked for a homeless advocacy group she was for sure on your team, these days, Hipsters are taking these low paying jobs away from us.

The nerve! And they also make it really hard to play “lesbian or hipster” because you never know the real answer.

Did you watch last night’s Grey’s Anatomy? Then maybe you’d be interested in reading Jessica Capshaw’s comments about the episode. Spoilers at the link!

Lesbian in a leather jacket count: Three.

In other JCap news, she had her baby! It’s a girl, named Eve Augusta Gavigan. Congrats!

A lesbian blogger has been selected as part of iVillage’s “iVoices” section on their site. Samantha Fein of garzagirls.com talks about being a mother of two kids with her partner in the Bay Area. Check out her videos at www.ivillage.com/ivoices-ivillage.

On TV today: The Ellen DeGeneres Show (check local listings), The Talk (CBS 2 p.m.), The Laramie Project (HBO 3 p.m.), The Rachel Maddow Show (MSNBC 9 p.m. and midnight) and lesbianish themed episodes of Degrassi: The Next Generation (TeenNick 9 p.m.), Primetime: What Would You Do? (ABC 9 p.m.), House Crashers (HGTV 9:30 p.m.) and Out of Practice (Universal HD 10 p.m.). (Thanks Roni!)

Happy Halloween, ya’ll!
