As 2016 comes to a close, we’ve witnessed some adorable and heartwarming relationships begin and flourish and several of our favorite couples crash and burn. Since news broke of Jane Lynch’s divorce from her Lara Embry, the actress, comedian, out lesbian and game show host hasn’t been linked to a new flame. While the wonderful, whimsical Jane seems happy living the single life, we would never hesitate to cheer her on for finding a new love. Who wouldn’t want this woman to make her smile every day?

Since her legendary years on “The L Word,” the actress has been cast in another lesbian role as Lena on Showtime’s Ray Donovan. The actress/celesbian DJ has remained largely out of the romance spotlight since she split up with Westworld’s Evan Rachel Wood. Word on the street is that Kate is available these days, and as was discussed on AE just recently, Shane is still as relevant as ever.

Unlike the other half of the brief, but sizzling power couple, Evan Rachel Wood’s personal life has historically been anything but personal. After a long term relationship with singer Marilyn Manson and a short marriage to actor Jamie Bell, Evan has mostly been focused on her career, starring in the new HBO show Westworld, for which she won the Critics’ Choice Award this year. She also made headlines this year in the wake of Donald Trump’s election by opening up about being a victim of sexual assault.

Halsey burst into the mainstream this year with her collaboration with The Chainsmokers for the unstoppable single of 2016, “Closer.” After her performance with them at the MTV VMA’s, she was heavily rumored to be dating on of the members of the DJ duo, but since shooting down rumors Halsey has been pretty quiet about her personal and love life.

The entire world sobbed during The Hunger Games when Rue was Amandla Stenberg’s Rue was killed back in 2012, and since she’s hit the public eye, the young actress has been an important voice of this generation. Last year the Ms. Foundation of Women declared her “Feminist of the Year”, and in an interview with Elle this fall, Amandla reinforced her self identification as being sexually fluid by stating she relates to the label pansexual.

Cara Delevingne

The model-turned-actress has had quite a busy year, from her role in Suicide Squad to her very public breakup with musician St. Vincent. Although there have been rumors of budding relationships with others, including Amber Heard, it’s safe to say Cara finished out 2016 in the single world, but I doubt she’s too mad about it.

Amber Heard and Johnny Depp’s separation and subsequent domestic abuse scandal dominated the entertainment news this year, sparking a media obsession with her bisexuality. Toward the end of 2016, Amber and Cara Delevingne have been rumored to be spending lots of time together, but as far as we know, she’s on the market.

Sarah Huffman

Former USA professional soccer player Sarah Huffman became known worldwide for being the wife of Abby Wambach, the one who kissed her after the United States women won the World Cup last year. Since then, the two powerhouse athletes have finalized their divorce. Abby has since moved on with author and activist Glennon Doyle Melton, so now it’s Sarah’s turn to find love again.

Alicia Cargile is a visual effects producer professionally, but personally, she most famous for being the on again, off again love interest of Kristen Stewart, who finally openly gushed about dating Alicia shortly before it was released that they had broken up. Alicia is back on the market, and her creativity and ambition makes her a pretty great catch.

Kelly McGillis

The Top Gun star has had a rough year in 2016, reportedly being assaulted over the summer by a woman who broke into her home in North Carolina. Kelly McGillis, who came out as a lesbian in 2009, hasn’t been linked romantically to anyone since she split from her partner back in 2011. We’d be thrilled to hear that she’s settling down and staying safe with a new love in 2017.
