Carey Mulligan and Jodie Foster eye “Stoker”

Carey Mulligan certainly is riding the wave of stardom right now. On the heels of completing Fox Searchlight’s adaptation of Never Let Me Go, Mulligan has reportedly signed with the studio for its upcoming film Stoker.

Stoker, written by Prison Break star Wentworth Miller (under the pen name Ted Foulke), is the story of eccentric teenager Indiana Stoker, whose mysterious estranged uncle comes back into the family when her father dies. Yes, the 25-year-old Mulligan is playing the teenager.

The producers are Tony and Ridley Scott and rumor has it that Ridley might direct, too. That would be kind of a strange match, since Mr. Scott tends to go for blockbusters and Fox Searchlight does films like Juno and Little Miss Sunshine.

An even better rumor is that Jodie Foster may costar as Indiana’s mom.

Apparently, Foster is talking to the studio and definitely is interested in Stoker. I would love to see Jodie in this movie — mainly because I don’t think we see enough of her.

We don’t have many details at this point, but we’ll keep you posted. For now, the news is a great reason to post pictures of Carey and Jodie to brighten your Monday.

Have you heard anything about Stoker? What do you think about Jodie Foster and Carey Mulligan playing mom and daughter?
