What do Sharon Stone and Kristanna Loken have in common besides having co-starred in sci-fi flicks with the Governor of California (Total Recall and Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, respectively)?
They’re both nominees for Worst Actress in this year’s 27th Annual Razzie Awards, the annual homage to the most stinkalicious films Hollywood has to offer.
Stone’s return performance as the brilliant and smoking-hot psychopath Catherine Tramell in Basic Instinct 2 has some real competition in Loken’s turn as Rayne, the half-human, half-vampire, all-dopey main character in Bloodrayne.
Not to be left out, Loken’s alleged girl toy Michelle Rodriguez was also nominated for Worst Supporting Actress in Bloodrayne. The “couple” that slays together, stays together.
To add insult to injury, Basic Instinct 2 and Bloodrayne top the Razzies list with the most nominations:
Basic Instinct 2, 7 Nominations
Worst Picture, Actress, Supporting Actor, Director, Sequel, Screenplay and Screen Couple
Bloodrayne, 6 Nominations
Worst Picture, Actress, Supporting Actor, Supporting Actress, Director and Screenplay
And we thought lesbian movies were bad.
It’s a brave winner who actually shows up to receive his or her award — a gold-spray-painted, golf-ball-sized raspberry atop a mangled super 8 film reel (value, $4.97), but some stars aren’t above a little self-deprecation. Halle Berry gamely picked up her Worst Actress prize at the 2005 ceremony for the box-office bomb Catwoman.
The Razzie Awards will be held at 7:30 p.m. PST on Saturday, February 24 at Hollywood’s Ivar Theatre, the night before the Oscars. Sadly, the ceremony won’t be televised.
Who do you think should win?
