Shay Mitchell talks PLL with Flaunt.

It’s just been amazing. Every single day I get a tweet from fans saying how much they can really relate to Emily. That she’s the first character they feel isn’t a stereotype.

Look how many lesbians love Planned Parenthood. Ellen Page, Tegan Quin, Jenna Lyons! You can be one, too.

A charity gala for Saving Spot! apparently had Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi‘s names as guests, as they were chairs of the host committee, so when they didn’t show, rumors swirled that they were in Santa Monica getting into a “huge fight” instead. The couple released a statement to E! to clear up confusion.

“We were happy to lend our names as honorary chairs and the organization was always aware that we would be unable to attend. This is the first time we have seen our images attached to the invite. It was not approved and it is misleading.”

In better Ellen news, the talk show host has launched a new digital video site called EllenTube. will host carefully curated videos that are from her show as well as fan submissions that can be uploaded directly to the site. Ellen announces the site on her show today.

A lesbian does not like when straight girls call her their “girlfriend.” As in, “HAY GIRLFRIEND!!!”

Alexis Coe writes about being haunted by the lesbian murderess she researched for her book, Alice + Freda Forever, which we reviewed today.

Angela Bassett writes about when she first moved to L.A. and shared a couch and lived with a female friend—which, of course, made her a lesbian.

I arrived with my little suitcase full of summer dresses. I thought L.A. had to be like Florida, so I was like, “I got this!” But at night it was freezing, and I realized, “Oh, this desert thing.” I was ill prepared. I was sleeping on a girlfriend’s couch, and she said, “OK, you’ve got 30 days. We’re not turning this into two years.” She was smart—it’s called boundaries. But in those 30 days nothing happened. No work. So I ended up moving in with another friend, who didn’t have those boundaries. A year later and I’m working. Not a pilot or any films. It was all “Movie of the Week” back then, and I was in every one of them. I felt like an episodic-drama whore. And I was still on my friend Joy’s foldout couch. People were wondering if we were lesbians. Everybody had a comment like, “You’re working and you still live together? You’re hittin’ it, right?” I’m like, “No.” But I did wonder, “Why am I still here?” Because it was safe, we shared expenses, and I had company in this lonely place where you have to make your own family.
