Actress and therapist Cathy DeBuono and actress Marnie Alton talk about how they met auditioning for Exes & Oh's, what it was like for Marnie to have her first girl kiss, and how she learned about homosexuality while growing up.
The two women also take on AfterEllen.com viewer letters dealing with issues of that straight girl friend who is either homophobic, or wants to cross that line.... They also chat about their first paid gigs, childhood crushes and the battle of Canadians vs. Americans.... it's hard to tell who won. If you have questions/issues you want Cathy to address, you can leave it in the comments, or private message Cathy (just make sure to let her know in the message whether she can mention your username on air or not). THE EDITED OUT SONG IS UP!!!!!
What fun! That was great. I can't wait to see the what she edited out!.
I got this from Cathy's myspace bulletin yesterday. It has to be the song.
**PS - Tune back in to my myspace page tomorrow to see a special "Cutting Room Floor" edition of this particular episode.
(I won't tell you what, but there was some stuff we couldn't legally post on Afterellen...... )

i haven't even finished watching but marnie could be the best vlog guest ever!
http://onefootinonefootout.blogspot.com/
YES!
Finally!
Been waiting all day. :)
Loved your chemistry on Exes and Oh's so I can't wait to see it on the vlog!
Okay, so now I've watched it, and I have to say that is BY FAR my favorite episode of Cathy's vlog. Marnie, you are ABSOLUTELY ADORABLE!! And, you definitely didn't loose cool points for the New Kids on the Block reference--honesty is a good policy!
Comet is precious.
And there were two points where I laughed so hard that I almost spit out my coffee:
Cathy: I'm tolerating your ignorance by not breaking your nose! And I've broken a few noses!
AND
When Cathy told Marnie to "prove" that Canadians are better at sex. ;)
Kudos, ladies! Muah!

No Borders Allowedthanks for the great advice
thanks for the great advice you two!
i hadn't actually considered that her statement could have meant that she feels we can talk about the real issues we're having openly and in a trusting environment, so that actually makes me feel a lot better.

Favorites from Canada
Canadians, eh?
Marnie, my family has that book too, "So you want to be a Canadian, eh?" -- my dad loves it. Actually, I think it's pretty hilarious myself.
But anyway, to add a few names to the list... Joni Mitchell, the Barenaked Ladies, the L Word's very own Mia Kirshner, Shania Twain, Sarah Maclachlan, Sum 41, Pamela Anderson (do we really want to claim her?), Feist, Charles Best and Frederick Banting (they discovered insulin. Hmm, maybe they're only famous in Canada. But everyone who goes to elementary school in Canada knows their names -- kind of like that cotton guy in the US. Eli Whitney?) Ellen Page obviously, k.d. lang, Dan Aykroyd, Alex Trebek, Margaret Atwood, Ann-Marie Macdonald... and Marnie Alton. :)
You guys are adorable -- and Cathy, your blog is great. The moths kind of make me cringe though. Ugh. Good luck with those...!more famous canadians

Canadian Inventions.
some other Canadian inventions are :
5 pin bowling, kerosine, Muskol (which is very imporant where I live in the summer, the mosquitoes are CRAZY), Pictionary, Rollerskates, snowblower, Trivial Pursuit, the zipper, the light bulb, amongst other things.
Great things come out of Canada. The best thing to come out of Canada I think is the Poutine. I don't eat them that often because I don't like cheese, but seriously, fried potatoes, cheese and gravy in a bowl. Yum.
Loved it :-) as always ;-)
You guys seem to have so much fun, I'm jealous ;-) I love Marnie and I love Cathy, as always this was an awsome vlog. perfect way to start the weekend and holidays :-D
Have a great week :-)

Possibly the best ending to
My thanks for this Vlog
For the most part I avoid such things as Blogs and Vlogs, but was bored last night and was reading about the ones hosted here on the site.
Most of them didn't hold much interest to me...I'm afraid I don't watch the shows, I just like reading about them. (I'm odd like that.)
The idea for this Vlog intrigued me, so I decided to watch.
I would like to say that the episodes I've seen have been exactly something that I've been seeking...but didn't know it.
There's enough comedy and joking around to make me comfortable enough to be receptive to the more serious issues you discuss. I must say, as a bit of an isolated lesbian, I am very grateful to have stumbled upon this gem.
I'm eternally grateful for whomever thought of getting Cathy DeBuono to do a Vlog like this. And, I am also extremely grateful that she is just the person that makes a Vlog like this work. Thanks Cathy.
I can't wait for next episode. =)
No undies?
Marnie rocks!
I so wanted to see Marnie singing! Marnie is histerically funny and she talks with her hands! I love multitasking too!
Great vlog, the funniest so far! I loved Marnie's moth story, hilarious!
Congrats Cathy, you're the best!

OMG, it's a cover of a famous italian song of the end of 70's or begining of the 80's (and the same title !) !! Cathy, as an italian, you don't know that ??? I'm just 50% and I know it ! ;-) I think the singer is Umberto Tozzi...not sure of my memory.
Am I the only who have noticed Lucia in the mirror in the last vlog ??
Cathy, even if I don't understand many of what is said (don't worry, not only in your vlog) cause english is not my native tong, I can't wait for your vlog each week.
Marnie and Corday are definitely my favorites...sorry for all others before !
Loved it
This was probably the best vlog yet, Marnie rocks.
Oh, and the Björn Borg comment made me laugh, but that was probably just me. He's a tennisplayer and he's swedish.
I laughed too!
I approve this vlog
This was one of the best yet! Marnie was an amazing guest. She was the perfect combination of 'fun yet insightful'.
EDIT: I just saw Marnie singing If I Loved You Anymore" over at logo andshw was fantastic. It's such a beautiful song and she has such a beautiful voice!

Once a week isn't enough!!
Cathy - Once again, the vlog was excellent. Marnie was delightful, and you were just as adorable as ever. You seem to have great chemistry with everyone and it's always a joy to watch you interact with your guests. I love how you can be serious, funny, 'giggly', shy, and goofy all in the span of 1/2 hour. The advice is always right on, with just the right mix of fun, frivolity and sexiness thrown in. You are truly awesome!
P.S. I just love Comet!!
Looking forward to the 'cutting room floor' edition!
Geez
I can't belive how great this vlog was. Marnie Alton is my new crush :)
I can't even think straight...
Vlog "approved by Marnie Alton" (LOL)
Meucci

I visited Vancuver once to visit my uncle who lives there, and there were a lot of asians. It made me want to go back. I don't rerember hearing too much French though.
I think it is cute that your dog just sits there all wet and everything, with my dog if you are not actively doing anything with him he will try to escape out of the bath tub.

ALBERTA RULES!!! YAY MARNIE!!!/ Shots/ Who is in the picture?
Marnie Alton
K.D. Lang
Nathan Fillion
Evangeline Lilly...
All fellow Albertans! Hmm I think everyone in this list is from Edmonton or Northern AB...
I'm living in Edmonton right now, going to U of A! But I'm a Lethbridge girl, sorry I don't like the cold.
flag
Marnie you rock!!!! Oh my goodness!! I remember the SAAN store in Coaldale!!!
Love Albertans! Except the PC's and Ralph Klein.
But hey I'm a Registered Nurse, and I gave about 100 shots to Gr 9 kids in the past 3 days and NO ONE cried or said it hurt, so hey if you need a shot, I would gladly do it.
P.S. Who is in the picture you have on the couch? I think I saw the same pic on top of your laptop a few episodes ago.
SAAN
We have a SAAN where my parents live. There's probably one where I am too. That and Rossy. Oooh Dollarama too. I go there to get snacks for my lunch. Giant Tiger, BiWay (I miss that store). Great stores.
I'm not that bad with needles. I give blood and have tattoos so they don't bother me. The only time getting a needle bothered me was in November when I got my mumps vaccine. When she put the needle in the skin I could feel it burning. It felt like hot acid going into my arm. Terribly painful.
Bad nurse and mumps
Yes people made fun of me for shopping at Saan store.
Yuck the mumps outbreak here... so bad.. but then they shut down the campaign because of those few anaphylactic reactions. So I didn't end up getting mine.
It shouldn't burn, it's not going into your muscle, so I think you got a sucky person giving you the shot.
