I think either I love waiting for the Best.Lesbian.Week.Ever or love it even better being the first poster...Maybe it's both of them equally...Another great week as usual
Great column! Overall joy and happiness and on top of that, it's your birthday, Malinda! So I'm wishing you a great day, no calls from work and lots of champagne. Wish I could have a share but my coke zero will do :)
On a sidenote: Yeah for South of Nowhere! One week to go till the season's premiere! I'm also looking forward to ae's interview with Amber Benson. Gorgeous woman!
Losing lesbian street cred every second of the day @ attictales.com
May you get spoiled rotten, drink as much scotch as your liver can handle and have a list of friends to depend on in case you need to get bailed out of jail because you had so much fun.
After reading "the best lesbian week ever" by different writers, I have to say Sarah Warn's efforts are by far my favourites! Though Scribegrrrl's are the funniest.
"call me old fashioned but I prefer feminism that leaves a little something to the imagination!"
they all bring something different to the table so for me, it's hard to favor one b.l.w.e. writer over another! with different things going on each week, one week may be more dead than the other. it's all the luck o' the draw. when something really good happens during the week, then the article will be awesome no matter who writes it because the writer can just take it and run with it!
my fav article was the first one malinda did for b.l.w.e. i was cracking up like nothing else. it made me go, "girl, where have you been?! why'd it take you so long to start writing about the best lesbian week ever?!"
Actually I was referring to the writing style itself ! What the writer does with the given material!
I just think Sarah Warn's is on the whole the most fluent style to read in my taste. Also what she chooses to write about when there isn't really much to tell I find more interesting than for instance that whole bit on birthdays. It's just me, but I thought that went on too long and was to self congratulatory for my taste! ( in fact I think she let the Leo in her get the better there for a moment :))
And Scribegrrrl obviously has a real talent for funny writing. She sometimes doesn't need much going on to be really funny. In fact sometimes the less there's going on the funnier she is!
It's not criticising the writers here, I am just expressing my taste!
"call me old fashioned but I prefer feminism that leaves a little something to the imagination!"
Among the filmmakers and actors who comment in the series are Guinevere Turner
Oh why am I not surprised Guin is in yet another gabfest, and giving the "lesbian" point of view. Honestly, I think this is her new career. I don't dislike Guin, but I am sick. to. death of seeing her time and time again on docs, or some type of "symposium" on gay film, sex, rights. You would think she was the only lesbian in the world.
This is, in fact, the Best. Month. Ever. It's good to be a Leo. Happy Birthday, Malinda, fellow Leo. And, yay for only 7 days till new South of Nowhere.
THANK YOU for the Degrassi mention! Paige gets on my nerves a bit, but I do love me some Palex. They're friggin adorable together. And GODDAMN is Alex hot, especially in the earlier seasons. There's just something about a complicated girl with an attitude problem in a wifebeater...
First a blog post and now inclusion on the BLWE...yay, Degrassi! Of course, I feel obligated to respond to any mention of Degrassi and Palex with the admission of my undying affection for Deanna Casaluce...you know, just in case you forgot since earlier this week.
If you haven't already, I encourage you to check out the N'sider podcast this week, where Deanna's the special guest. She's got some interesting things to say about her storylines and her thoughts on feminism are pretty insightful.
Deanna Casaluce on playing a lesbian character on Degrassi:
I think people just expected me, maybe, to be uncomfortable with it or something. I wasn't at all...I mean...I've said this in the past: a relationship is a relationship is a relationship. Love is love is love. So whether, you know, the relationship is between Alex and Jay or Alex and Paige, I'm going to play it...I'm going to play it as if I have feelings and I'm falling in love because it's the same idea, right?
Here's one part I thought was pretty hilarious:
The-Mary: I have a question from a user--unfortunately, I don't have the username right now because I'm not on my own computer--but, I will put it in the N'sider. But she was asking if random lesbians walk up to you on the street and tell you that you're hot. She said cause you are and you can tell her I said that.
Deanna: Awww. No, nobody comes up to me and says that I'm hot. Actually, most people who recognize me will say something very subtly...so like, people aren't overtly like "oh my god, oh my god you're so hot. oh my god, you're on Degrassi." I would love, I would love more of that, but...no, people are pretty conservative over here, if they recognize you.
Hahaha. C'mon Canadians...you should be mobbing this hottie at all times! Once Deanna moves to the States, we'll show you how it's done ;)
Thanks Malinda for the Palex mention this week. And an extra thanks for linking to Paige-Alex Dot Com. That's actually my site, co-run with a dear friend. It was much appreciated. I'm glad to see a fellow Deanna fan too!
I think that on the whole, Paige proves an annoying character, but Alex totally rocks, not too mention her next to godliness body. I can honestly say that thanks to couples like Palex and Spashley I've felt better about being who I am. Of course, I know they aren't real, but they could be.
Wow so amazing how you mentioned Palex and those Deanna photos are awesome, you should do an interview with her, just to show her how much everyone loves her,
and to that interview thing up there ^^^ people should tell her that she's hot! if i had a chance....actually i would just be nervous with her hotness and probably pass out
Oh Amber Benson I miss her so. I once had a fan page for her character Tara and Willow. http://www.powow.com/redsun/love.html too bad I lost my password to the site but it's cool that it's still up and running.

god, they're so f-'ing hot!
for a while, i've refused to jump on the lesbian bandwagon and worship them. i'm usually not one for any bandwagon-jumping period.
but i've certainly been crumbling in regards to them. i could eat 'em up.

Mmm
mmm, lesbian bandwagon
Fine blogging, I especially liked the bit about the lesbionic woman, it really made me laugh (and hope that they reconsider the direction of the show)
Also very excited about the Amber Benson interview. She is so lovely
sometimes I doubt your commitment to sparkle motion
I don't enjoy many bloggers ...
Malinda Lo, but I do enjoy you.
