So myself is the first to blog.. There are lesbians all around but they are shy and scared to bring that out from them.. they lack courage to face the world. To show what love can actually do and practically be. God has given us freedom to do what we like to do and how can we come out of it. Love can happen with any one its not the problem with gender(sex). It becomes the reason for living.

I'm so confused about the whole Michelle Shocked story :S She still wants to be an honorary lesbian but she believes that homosexuality is a sin?! She's strange.

I've been listening to her since she was on the Air America morning show with Liz and ChuckD. Funny, brilliant, and ballsy! She gives the guys like "Morning Joe" more than they can handle because she always has the facts to back her up, instead of the inane political "wisdoms" they all seem to spout like the sheep they are. Why does this woman not have a show of her own?!

I usually look forward to Fridays for BLWE, but it doesn't seem as if there are a lot of things to put the B in BLWE! I swear I heard a dirge playing in the background while reading half of this weeks BLWE, while a few things (albeit fewer and fewer, it seems) provided that ever elusive glimmer of hope.

I saw the preview for next weeks Grey's Anatomy and while I would certainly welcome the coupling of Dr. Torres and Dr. Hahn, if the current trend in television holds the preview was just a scintillating teaser that will not come to fruition. That being said if TPTB over at Grey's actually do turn this storyline into something more than a 2 second soundbite, I would be a very happy viewer!

It was also nice to see Kate Walsh back where she belongs (if only for a one episode guest appearance)... on Grey's as Dr. Addison Montgomery-Shepherd.

I too am perplexed after reading the entirety of the Michelle Shocked interview and beyond that really can't express myself properly in words other than to say I was left dumbfounded.

Thank you to Malinda for valiantly trudging through all of those ghastly shows, so that we won't have to do so ourselves... for I truly don't think that I could ever find it in myself to watch Viva Hollywood, A Shot At Love... or any of those other shows that so litter television these days.

There are at least 2 out lesbians on Miss Rap Supreme. While the show is definitely trashy the out lesbians (I specify out becaue I'm sure that there are more luking in the closet) are actually not the crazy ones, they're pretty down to earth.

wow.. see, here in argentina we they're still playing "new" (for us) episodes from before the strike. so, yeah.. wow.. i would've pictured a little more christina with dr. kahn, but hey this is awesome news!!!

Rachel Maddow rocks. She's one of the few commentators on MSNBC--male or female--who won't tolerate any guff from Scarborough or Pat Buchanan. Watching her and Keith Olbermann together during Countdown is almost a bit too much for my liberal heart to handle. They need to give Maddow her own show on MSNBC.

As I said in the forum thread, I don't think the Hahn-Callie thing will amount to much...mainly because Shonda Rhimes has never been that explicit about an upcoming relationship. I'll take anything, though, that leads to more of Sara Ramirez in cute black dresses. Hot!

A little surprised to see that you didn't cover Miss Rap Supreme on VH-1 in your rundown of lesbians on cable TV (there's a thread for the show in the forums). While still falling into the subgenre of "trashy reality tv," the show has at least one confirmed lesbian (Lady Twist) and several others who I suspect play for our team (or so I surmised by the amount of making out in the first episode).

Also, Marlee Matlin (aka Jodi Lerner from "The L Word") was voted off Dancing With the Stars this week. According to a post-elimination interview she did with Ok! magazine, she'll be returning for the sixth season of TLW to tie up some loose ends. I hope she doesn't burn anyone's house down...

What really impressed me about that Olivia Yan video was that the singer herself played one of the girls. I can't think of any time that a straight (or, at least, not out) female American musician has kissed another girl in a music video for any reason other than obvious male titillation. Can anybody else think of one?  I mean, I don't know that Yan is straight, but if she's gay I'm assuming that she's not out.

Instead of Praising Bravo or Top Chef for being one of the few shows featuring lesbians (Something AE did with Cashmere Mafia even going as far as touting "inside sources" to rationalize that disaster of a show's failure to follow through on their assurances) After Ellen needs to looks at the bigger picture: Why do lesbian contestants always get eliminated? Granted I do not watch Top Chef anymore precisely for this reason but you have to question the powers that be behind the scenes. How about going as far as asking why they script Jackie Warner of Work Out to look like an immature egotistical lothario.

Maybe it's decided that a lesbian should not win Top Chef. Same thing on Survivor. And that Pirate reality Show. After all it is the media. Oh right I get why AE promotes these shows without critical analysis. I realize that the majority of the readership is youthful and don't know better, but the editors should. I mean I feel they have a responsibility to provide this type of leadership. Maybe AE believes it risks not getting invited to all of those photo opportunities.

A history lesson: There was once a failed actor turned film critic by the name of Rex Reed who often wrote scathing reviews of movies. He was the predecedssor to today's Perez Hilton. Well despite his reviews Reed got invited to many photo ops and premiers.

Maybe a critical eye once in awhile instead of sugar coating these shows leads to more insightful online journalism.

Anyway Top Chef's treatment of lesbian contestants is similar to the male dancer on American Idol who was eliminated. You just know that he was eliminated because he danced in gay mens clubs. I just don't want to see lesbians onscreen. I wasted 5 years watching the L Word and its inconsistent storylines.

I want to see lesbians winning.

Why is this feature even titled "Best lesbian Week Ever" when all this bad news appears? Homophobia in Singapore, Top Chef eliminates yet another lesbian contestant.

Yeah, I said it. No really, my dad told me and my girlfriend this at dinner one night! That said, I feel bad for Michelle Shocked, I don't think her interview is as crazy as people are saying it is. Her position on being a liberal and a born again Christian can best be used by the example she cites:

" “These were African-Americans who had sat in the back of white Southern churches and read from a Bible that says, ‘Slaves obey your masters.’ Knowing that the Bible could be used as a tool of oppression, I couldn’t understand how these people would quote that Bible with same bigoted ignorance and abuse of God’s love for his children,” Shocked says. "

In the same way, how can a gay Christian profess to be a Christian and take part of an organization that, SUPPOSEDLY, hates them? It's entirely possible that gun-toting, meat eating, gay hating Christianity is not the version of Christianity that Shocked identifies with. And as her interview indicates, she's rather repulsed by it.

It's entirely possible that after many years of crazy, active alcholism, a main part of her recovery and sobriety could be tied up in religion, which is not an uncommon experience.

In the end, she is an ARTIST. Artists have a tendency to feel passionately and ardently about any and all aspects of life. Though she refutes it, this is probably her Bob Dylan born again Christian phase, which will pass soon enough.
