UPDATE: I just watched ep1-7 and yeah it is really good although ep7 was kind of odd still great series can't wait for the next episode.

I love this show. Funny and dramatic at the right times. They've alread set things up so quickly.

But her friend really reminds me of Fumi from Aoi Hina.

haven't been online for a while, so it's nice to log back on, and see a new yuri anime :-) Thanks for posting/embedding the video. Nice first ep. I am curious enough to seek out the manga now and compare the two. Can't wait for future eps.

I can't belkieve AE is posting this too! This has been a great anime season with Sasameki Koto coming out right after Aoi Hana. So far, I'm liking the anime Sasameki Koto better than Aoi Hana. The only thing about Sasameki Koto is that you can sometimes tell that the story was definitely written by a guy. It only slips in this way once in awhile though so I don't mind too much.Thanks a lot for posting this!

Hmm..

I saw this a couple of weeks back on Crunchy Roll. It didn't grab me BUT I will stick with it to see how this plays out. Glad to see this on AE!

I think Aoi Hana was a better, but I will stick with this. I have to stop comparing shows. I think that is my problem.

I ask don't they Both look or seem exactly like the two characters from Aoihana? There are some small differences, but yeah, looks the same and this isn't exactly a very different storyline either. Two friends, one in love, the other otherwise directed yet devoted to each other, school setting, school clubs, the lone wolf on the outskirts looking in loving in secret, even the bus stops...what am I missing?

There is just something a bit too familiar but not as intuitive going on here.

Is this perhaps a basic formula for this manga?

The smaller girl's attitude is a bit more difficult to embrace, the "...only like cute girls" gets irritating, especially when you think does she really not see how painful it is to repeatedly say that her best friend is too tall and not cute? Just seems like an odd perception for a creator to make this girl actually this girl "crazy" and that blind.

That's because schoolgirl stories in Anime/Manga have essentially the same theme, if the focus is set on slice of life.

They usually start the same, but differ in the course of story progression, and as far as the Manga goes, Aoi Hana and Sasameki Koto really don't have much in common.

Ushio (the smaller girl) might seem annoying with this kind of attitude at the beginning, but later on you get a lot of background story as to how and why they're in the situation they are in right now, so it does get a little more insightful.

So... just stick a little longer with it? :)

I'm not sure how much of it will be covered in the Anime though, since the series is only going to be around 13 episodes and there are over 30 chapters ongoing.

I did stick in there and it does develop differently, yet Ushio still is stuck on the "cute" and "not tall" theme which is really driving her best friend crazy now. I am currently going to start part 5, so let's see what happens and what is revealed.

Still, I love these and am glad we are linked to them. After I posted, I realized I didn't say that! Then I couldn't get back until now, so, sorry to sound like I wasn't thankful!

I really think this media is adorable and very well done. Absolutely appreciated too!

Just wanted to point this out, since many a schoolgirl-themed Manga/Anime of different series seem the same.

Well, if you're interested how it progresses ( since the pace in which the Anime is moving, there's no way they'll even get to the middle of the backstory ), here's an online reader of the Manga:

I remembe visiting mangaupdates nearly every day just to see if dynasty scans had updated, but I've been away from anime and manga for so long that I didn't even realize that this became an anime

Sumika did remind me of that character from Aoi Hana. But I couldn't really confirm since I only saw a peep of Aoi Hana. ^_^ Now, she reminds of Elphaba from Wicked. Maybe it's just me in my Wicked head lol.

And while there is a chance, half a chance in a billion, that it can actually happen...it's worth a try.
