TV Alert: Ellen invites us to her wedding tomorrowThe People Magazine photos sure were lovely, but there's nothing better than hearing about Portia and Ellen's wedding from Ellen herself. She will be showing viewers all the goods from her ceremony and reception on tomorrow's show, as promised on her website: As most of you know, I am now a married woman! On Tuesday, I will give you the scoop and share some intimate moments from my summer wedding to Portia, that you can only see right here! (Make sure you have plenty of tissues handy!) I'll even introduce you to my wedding planner, MINDY WEISS, who is here to give you some pointers and basic rules to ensure that you too can have the ceremony of your dreams! (Rule #1: Don't forget to tip your planner.)
If you haven't yet, make sure to take a look at Ellen's own photo album from their wedding day. In conjunction with the well wishes in the comments section, it's enough to make you tear up. Just wait until tomorrow! The Ellen DeGeneres Show airs on NBC. Check the web site for local listings. Submitted by on September 8, 2008 - 4:00pm. |

Ellen the greatest!
Wow!
Wow. I never thought I'd see this in my lifetime. Ellen, through her courage and example, is leading us into the 21st century, where the love and commitment between two women may someday be seen as "normal." I am both touched and grateful.
What do you do if you fall in love with your best friend? Marry her!

Or tell her and get politely
Sorry
Sorry that happened to you. :(

now i only wish i could get the show over here in the UK...
Those pictures melt my cold
Those pictures melt my cold cold heart.
Remember when Ellen wouldn't even mention her personal life on her show? Times have certainly changed.
I come from a big family and
That's how I came out...it
That's how I came out...it sucked at first but we both got over it and it felt great to finally come out.
Anything you can do, I can do gayer.
the pics she have in her
the pics she have in her site are awesome, I can't wait to see her show about her wed.
I'm so happy for they both =)
Oh Goodie!
I'll tune in!
Tony!
I'm *so* happy Tony is back! He has such a nice presence and great chemistry with Ellen. I don't know what they were thinking with that Stryker guy last year. I couldn't stand him. He was so completely wrong for the show.
And for those who missed it, Tony (who's also an actor) will be in the Law & Order: SVU premiere.
Tony!
For those who want to watch
For those who want to watch it in Australia, (or melbourne at least) set the vcr for 1pm tomorrow (wed) on channel 9.
Will be great to see Ms Rogers, and the fabulous ellen tie the knot it's not overstating it to say times are a changing just wish they'd get a bit quicker here in aus tis frustrating, but hey thats life.

Or if you can't wait that long...
A national disgrace....
Thanks for the tip, but isn't it shameful that Portia's home country will refuse to give this marriage any legal status or recognise it in any way? People around the world might be rejoicing, but once the happy couple crosses our shores it's like the wedding never happened. And it does matter in a practical sense. If (for instance) Portia ended up in hospital in her home state of Victoria, Ellen would have no familial rights unless Portia's family ceded them to her. No wonder they live in CA!!
Not Only But Also
I know its just sad and
I know its just sad and typically hysterical that we are so far behind in this country! But hey at least there is a bill in Victorian Parliamnt at the mo that would give us lesbians as well as single women access to IVF finally.
Wouldn't it be great if Ellen and Portia came to Australia for a holiday and a series of shows! It would cause a storm of interest and debate, could be a push in the right direction. I can see it now they rock up at Geelong training (Portia grew up with player Darren Milburn I think) and try out AFL while causing constanation amoungst conservatives like Wilson Tucky! Priceless, I hope Not only that you understand my rant ;-)

Ugh, I know what you mean...
I had to fill out forms for my new job the other day, and on the form for insurance or something you could nominate dependents. It said something along the lines of: 'You may nominate a partner in a de facto relationship, but not a member of the same sex'. I just wanted to rip the stupid form into little pieces and burn it. Instead I had to sign the damn thing.
I am so ashamed of our government.
It actually said that?!
It actually said that?! Omb...what is wrong with these government people. =_=

Use commas when necessary: You want 'Talk to me when you want to, mate' instead of 'Talk to me when you want to mate'. =]
I hear ya, its just wrong
I hear ya, its just wrong and so out dated. We are just people trying to live, love, work and contribute yet we still get shunned in really covert ways, its just insulting. But there's always hope and things are changing just slowly. It'd help if we had some prominate queer folk to make a fuss even in a funny way.

beautiful
Great day in lesbian TV history
Between Ellen and the debut of The Rachel Maddow Show, this was one of the best days in lesbian TV history, no?
Portia was on the show today, for those who didn't see it. When the Jonas Brothers were performing, there were a few shots of Ellen, Portia and Betty (and Michelle Obama and her kids) watching them.
I cannot *wait* for tomorrow's show!
Rachel even referenced (and
i love ellen and portia
And Shawn Johnson
Oh mannnn...now I can't
To Say The Least
I just watched the show a little while ago and the videos were beautiful (especially the song that Ellen's brother wrote for the occassion) and I found myself a little verklempt to say the least.
I'll keep checking for the Youtube clips.

Speechless
So, I was genuinely moved when I watched that video on her show!
I nearly shed a tear!
But honestly, it's so intense to watch her there in front of this country, knowing the huge range of people in the US who have and will see this. I'm at a loss for words, I feel such a huge love for her for being so brilliant in the ways she has made the personal political, while staying funny and letting her emotions show!!
Ellen really has done sooo much for Lesbians... I'd never imagined any of this being possible when I was a teenager...
All I can really say is Thank You Ellen!
If I can ever be of help, I'll watch your back!
The song
Cool to hear how/when he wrote the lyrics to that song:

The videos
Oh my. I think those videos have just melted my heart of stone.
The bit where they first see each other and their voices crack, i almost burst into tears! Jeezuz!
Both of the videos, the monologue and the montage, are on ellen's warnerbros site. (as well as all over youtube)
In a word...WOW!!!
I, too, watched with tear-filled eyes the videos of Ellen and Portia's wedding. They were both stunningly dressed and clearly deeply in love. The video captured that love in a very special way!
Watching the clips, I couldn't help thinking back to Ellen's relationship with Anne Heche, and thinking how far she has come. She is truly blessed, and I wish her and Portia many, many years of wedded bliss.
