The Runaways film finds its Lita FordIt's all coming together — The Runaways film, Cherry Bomb, has found its next member: Lita Ford. 22-year-old television actress Alessandra Torresani has been cast as the enigmatic guitarist.
Torresani has appeared in several TV series, including E.R., Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles and Bones, so this role, alongside Kristen Stewart's Joan Jett and Dakota Fanning's Cherie Currie, will certainly be her biggest to date.
Torresani told the Examiner that she researched the band (who formed almost two decades before she was born) and watched a documentary to become more familiar with them and Lita herself. "She's the most incredible woman," Torresani said of Ford. "I'm getting to meet her very soon, so that'll be amazing. I'll get to hear all her old stories."
The young actress having just inked her contract is now on the fast track to learning the guitar and meeting her castmates, who she refers to as "kick-ass" and "good girls," despite having not met them yet. We start [filming] next week," she told the Examiner. "Everything's just coming together right now. I learn the guitar starting [Monday], so that'll be interesting. I'm very nervous about it. I can fake [the guitar]. I can rock out. I'm a dancer, so I'll fake it." OK, so it makes me a little nervous that she thinks dancing is going to make her a good guitar player (fake or otherwise), but if Lita is going to be hanging around the set, then she can show Alessandra how to make it look good.
"I'm just excited the movie is moving along. Rolling Stone reports that Stella Maeve will play drummer Sandy West, but there's no word on who will be cast as any of the band's rotating bassists (Micki Steele, Peggy Foster, Jackie Fox). But honestly, all I care about is one singular woman involved with this project, and that must be who Alessandra was talking about when she gushed about loving Twilight in the same interview. "Who can't love vampires, right?" she said. "And Robert [Pattinson], of course. Gorgeous!" Uh, yeah he's great and all, but what about your costar?

Not sure about alessandra as lite ford, cause i can't remember her from anything that she's been in. But on another not i'm happy that the filming is about to begin, that's one step further to me being able to watch it. can't wait for kristen to play joan jett.

I was kind of excited when I heard they were making a movie about them. I saw their documentary that came out recently and thought their story was really interesting.
I don't get the choices they're making though. My apologies to the Kristin Stewart fans, but I don't see her as Joan Jett at all. She tries a little too hard to seem unaffected, whereas Joan really doesn't care. Maybe Twilight 3 will interfere and she'll have to drop the role.

If i remember correctly, the rumors about her and Pattinson started right when Twilight was released starting with the Life and Style magazine. This was way before the 2nd film started filming. And it just escalated and now it's turned into Robsten which every magazine and gossip site is reporting on now.
Well if this is all just for publicity, then congratz to those people who planned this. They have successfully fooled about everybody with their media sensation known as Robsten.

That's true, they did start when the first film came out, but that was more like wishing on many people's parts (in many cases admittedly so). At the same time, others were beginning to talk about Kristen Stewart's sexual orientation, ostensibly with Reed, during and after the release of Twilight. So I don't think it's an accident that you saw all these kind of tabloid, teen magazine reports saying that Pattinson was full of angsty affection for her (again, at the start of shooting) culminating in the supposed fact that the two are now together. As for whether I think Stewart and Reed were ever involved, I don't know. Nobody knows. But the "relationship" between her and Pattinson sounds contrived for pubicity. Sorry.

IIRC Alessandra Torresani played Zoe Graystone in the Caprica pilot. I really thought she was excellent in that role.
Definitely happy to be seeing more of her (so to speak).

I wonder...
A movie about The Runaways is completely and totally AWESOME. They wouldn't have chosen the cast members unless they knew what they were doing (that's probably not true, but I'm trying to be optimistic). I'm excited to see it for the awesomeness factor, but a small part of me wants to see the reactions of all the Twilight fans who have no idea who Joan Jett is and are only going to see the movie because of Stewart. Maybe it'll open their minds to something greater than fictional vampires (no offense to ladies here who like the Twilight series, mind you. I read the books, too. Didn't have the same affect on me as did to others).

I'm *worried* ...
Alessandra's face shape is very different than Lita's ... and Sandy West was very strong (drummer's arms) and had some real boyish qualities ... Stella doesn't have Sandy's vibe AT ALL.
Then there's the issue of playing instruments ...
There are so many hot young female musicians who could easily learn to act ... especially drummers - I think it would make the film more believable.

i cant stand Kristen's attitude, and i love The Runaways and Joan Jett, so watching the movie would be a real challenge to me.
the only casting choice that seems smart is Dakota...god is it me, or was she just 6 a year ago?!
