The lesbian members of The Cliks leave the band

Yesterday, The Cliks frontman, Lucas Silveria wrote a MySpace blog to announce that his out bandmates, Morgan Doctor and Jen Benton have decided to quit and "pursue their own ambitions."

"To be blunt, the road beat us up and knocked us out," Lucas wrote. "When we all woke up, we each saw a different road ahead. These things happen, it's that simple. I respect their decision and hope you will as well.

The band has had several different versions of a line-up with Lucas being the only permanent member. As he noted on the blog, "I started this alone, 3 albums and 8 line ups later, in the words of Sir Elton John, 'I’m still standing.'"

Brian Viglione of the Dresden Dolls will be drumming for upcoming Cliks gigs and Lucas said there will be new members, which made for a kind of weird ending to the MySpace post:

Maybe we can have so many ongoing member changes that we can start a trading card series. Now that's a good idea!

Everyone will all sit at shows trying to trade their doubles and the conversations will sound like this:

Girl #1 — "Hey, I have 2 Heidi Chans and no Morgan Doctor. I'll trade you."

Girl #2 — "No way, I already have a Heidi Chan, how about you give me your Jen Benton for an Ezri Kaysen?"

Girl #1 — "Do you have any idea how long it took me to get this Ezri Kaysen? That is a really rare card. Only 20 in existence. No way. I had to trade one of my Lucas Silveira's before top surgery for it."

Girl #2 — "Well forget it then. You suck. Wanna make out?"

Girl #1 — "OK."

Will you stick with The Cliks, no matter who is in the band?

    Hell yeah, I'm sticking with them no matter what the lineup looks like. Though I must admit, I was crushed when I read his blog post yesterday.
    I love the band and I love the man so let's see what happens next.

    I've never been a fan of the music.  To be fair, I've only heard a few songs, but I disliked them so much that I didn't bother to try to find any of their other music. *shrugs*

    I will def stick with the band although this news broke my heart.

    Lucas' voice and the lyrics of the songs are the main draw for me but I hope he will be able to find equally talented musicians to complete the band's unique sound.

    Why do so many good bands go through this??

    This is a sad story but it happens, I love The Cliks happens to be one of my favorite bands, Lucas Silveria is an amazing musician I admire his ambition most people would’ve gave up, seriously you have to admit that he’s talented, after 8 line ups and the music is still good, you have to give it to him. I will definitely still stick with The Cliks I’m kind of excited to see what’s next for the band.

    I read his tweet yesterday and was devastated. I missed them in concert by a few weeks (having to leave the country n all - long story :P ) and now they are no more.

    Will listen to his next album, but was mainly a fan of the two ladies. the way Jen Benton strings her bass is beyond awesome! seems like she will try n get-together a band of her own. can't wait.

    will miss the Cliks in the silveira-benton-doctor set-up. :(

    Yup- I read this on the MySpace page yesterday and was devastated. I will stick with them until, as Lucas put it, 'This big, stubborn heart of mine stops beating.'

    Much love to Lucas, Jen, Morgan AND Nina! I wish them nothing but healthy, happy rocking years to come!

    of course i will stick with them as long as music is getting made... i wish them the best. but i'm going to miss morgan :(

    I love the band (and I even met the three of them in San Francisco last June! woot!) but I would follow Lucas anywhere, no matter who else is in the band, or whatever he desides to do. <3 Yay.

     i love the cliks seriously    but i had  a H-U-G-E crush on Jen Benton  and i love morgan's drumming she's amazing  and how jen moves awsome with her bass .... i love lucas  really much and i will stick with him  but this is gonna  be really hard and will take a little time  ...

    aaaa i'm so sad =(

    You go to Ryerson too?  I'm wondering about that....so are they still going to play? That's sucks though.  I love their music.  Snakehouse is a really good album.

    I enjoyed a short set they did recently when I was in Toronto for The True Colors Tour.  But, I can't say I'm torn apart by them disbanding.

    This does remind me of Yo Majesty's recent troubles however and that makes me sad.  Reunite ladies!

    When I try to sing but instead get these awkward squeaks and cracks, thanks to testosterone, I think about how damn SMART this guy was, haha. I'm not a "fan" of The Cliks, but Lucas has got a pretty awesome voice, for sure. In fact, I think I'll go listen to "Nobody Else Will" right now ~

    I love Lucas and as long as he finds some more hotties to play bass and drums I will still be listening/watching.
