Susan Powter thinks it should be obvious she's a lesbian

Out fitness personality Susan Powter says she's found a new cure for obesity, which she details in her new book, Eat, Breathe, Move, Think.

On The Morning Show with Mike and Juliet today, she explained that anyone "with a human body" can breathe and be fit. It doesn't take her long to mention she hates Dr. Phil, no explanation attached. (Click the link above to watch the video.)

But what really comes out of nowhere is Mike interrupting her discussion on wellness with, "Here's the thing: I didn't know know you were a lesbian."

"What planet were you living on?" Powter asks and continues to joke about how obvious it should be. Then Mike and Juliet announce her "lover" used to be a comedian on the show named Jessica Kirson. Susan can't get over the use of the word "lover" and goes to town, repeating it over and over again.

Mike and Juliet are perplexed that Susan has been "married to men" and is now gay, yet Mike also mentions he's known her for "18 years." Uh, really? Were you just not paying attention?

It looks like Powter is making her way back to being a household name with her new book and theories on weight loss and wellness. She currently blogs daily from her website. Here's hoping her video blogs will tide you over until there's more wacky TV appearances.

What a wonderful woman!

I had never heard of Susan Powter before, but after seeing this clip I'll say she KICKS ASS!! I love how she's so outspoken, it's refreshing! Definitely going to check out her book(s?), seeing as I've been trying to get in a better shape myself lately. Thanks Susan!!

Susan Powter

Look her up, she's got a long history in the fitness biz. She coined the phrase "Stop the Insanity". She was big in the late 80's/early 90's. She used to do informercials and seminars selling her diet books and stuff. Back then she had a buzz cut and always wore a leotard and tights to show off her body.

Ick!

She's back.  I remember her infomercials from (when was it?) the early 90s, I think.  Her entire premise was that you should be able to carb up big time and as long as it contained no fat, you wouldn't ever get fat - uh, yeah, like that works....

The first photo of her looks so unlike her.  The second one resembles more of the woman I remember.  Did my gaydar ever go off on her?  Nope.  Then again, I never thought of her as anyone other then a brasque, head shaven woman who was trying to make a quick buck.

Stop the Insanity!! :)

Ok, when I was a young girl, I LOVED the informercials for Stop the Insanity (sorry Ceeshele, but she's Susan is magnetic to me).  I LOVED Susan Powter, and I didn't know until I read this article that she's a lesbian!  Then again, I didn't know for a long time that I was either.  I have always had this weird internal subconscious gaydar that makes me drawn to lesbians, even when I don't realize they are lesbians.  Oh well.  Yay, Susan!

The chick with spiky blonde hair back in the day? Her? She's a lesbian? No figure. I love how she confirmed it w/o shame then went back toher subject matter. That guy is an idiot for  outing her.  I like how  she took the outing with passion and head held high.

What other celebs back in the day is out but straight celebs don't know?

It was to me. And my mom.

She had a talk show back then, right? My mom and I had an inkling. Turns out we're right :)

Susan rocks.

"It doesn't take her long to mention she hates Dr. Phil, no explanation attached."

Doesn't she say she hates him because he points the finger at women and tells them to lose weight, even though he's not fit himself?

I found her kind of annoying on this clip, but I applaud anyone who points out Dr. Phil's hypocrisy (and his sexism).

True, I just think it's kind

True, I just think it's kind of funny she singles him out. There seem to be a lot of people like that out there!

S.P.

My gaydar went off on her years ago when she used to do those infomercials.

I think the best part of that clip was when Mike goes, "Dr. Phil in the blank." XD

Whodathunk someone who was

Whodathunk someone who was once with a man wouldn't always require a penis in the mix.

What a douche.

OK

OK, I'm not big on infomercials, had no idea who this woman was until now, but she's a bit nutty for me, but nuts in an infomercial sort of way... which again I don't like... not much into people trying to sell me stuff.... anyhoo, yeah for being out and funny about it.

Ha ha

I have no idea who this woman is, but that second picture is pure comedy. That wee kid squished between her and Rosie's boobs and seeming pretty happy about it made me laugh out loud for about five minutes.
