Shoe things
Well, there kinda does seem
im really upset about Dan
im really upset about Dan Choi and the DADT policy in general. i saw you wanted to almost scream about it and i feel the same way! its close to home and so archaic. "oh, it helps morale in the military." who's morale? old white guys'!!
The More to love thing: this is what makes me hate tv and producers. its all about the money, they dont care about societal consequences. The only thing i've liked from Fox network was House MD and i'm already tired of it! you're completely right about ripped men being able to love curvy women and vice versa. what is all this bs about putting people in boxes. and teen kids already dont know how to think of themselves in a healthy way-for this reason. why make it worse!!
dont get me started on that shoe...its weird. 'nuff said.
Bi-Lesbian: a woman who can be butch or femme interchangeably. :P
Are you kidding me?!?!
Those shoes look like some kind of frog creature or some kind of sea monster freak thing, maybe i can also see some kind of scuba diver-esk look to them. But really, REALLY i would never wear these in public. I agree with you with the socks, you wear them at home, hence no one sees you. i get that, i have a pair of those socks in rainbow colors, but the shoes, ummm NO thanks. there wicked freaky looking.
There's no way i would be
There's no way i would be seen with those shoes on, they're ridiculous and i'm not sure they're soooooo much better for us. I don't even wear the socks you mentionned!
Just a really really, are you kidding me- moment for me too!
i saw a commercial for that
shoes
i'm on the crew team at my college and i remember one of my friends on the team wore those shoes to practice one day. he looked ridiculous but he says they work. personally i would never wear them lol
...
I agree that being it is 2009, it's ridiculous that we still can't have gay people in our military. A person's performance in the military will be no different once you know that they are gay. Choi did a brave thing by being so open, and it is a shame that people who are so devoted to their country are no longer valuable to the army once a person makes something as unimportant to that situation as sexuality, public. Furthermore, I find it disgusting the way that some people feel that, if a person would be openly gay in the military, they should have to have seperate barracks, seperate showers, etcetera. I think that kind of hateful behavior in people shows quite a level of narcissism on their part. Trust me, homophobes, you aren't as desirable as you think.
On the subject of Fox's new show, I felt the same way when I saw the commercials for it. I agree that curvier, fuller women should be represented in the media the same way as the thin and petite women. Afterall, the way something is portrayed in media and television affects how people think about it. If we're projecting an image that fuller women need to be seperated from your thin, model-esque girls, and that these bigger women can only get bigger men, that is how everyone will think on it. And we have enough seperation among people already. I think that the show could be really disenheartening for bigger women, as though it is setting rules and guidelines for them and what they can attain in life. You are completely right that athletic men can like a fuller woman, and it is the same that those tiny girls can want a bigger, huskier man.
Lastly, I would never wear those shoes in public. You'd have to be a really confident individual to be around people in something like that. I also don't like stuff in between my toes, which is why I also don't wear toe socks, so I could never wear those shoes. I mean, my balance could use improvement (a lot of improvement), but if those things are the only thing that can make me a graceful swan, I'll pass for being gawkish.
Comments on More to Love
I absolutely agree that the premise of this show is sickening and depressing (and a little triggering for me because I've been in recovery for an eating disorder for some time, but this is no place for that drama), but I also think you played into those societal misconceptions a bit in your video. I absolutely share your idealism that any type of segregation in this day and age should not exist (Are you kidding me? It's 2009!) but when you refer to these women by separating them into "full figure/curvy/bigger" women and "normal" women, isn't that the same degrading stereotype Fox is trying to push, that in some way these women aren't "normal"? I got the impression you were confusing real-world normal with the gilded entertainment world "normal" where it's "normal" for a woman's hips to be defined by her pelvic bones, where if she turns sideways she disappears, and the only acceptable place to have an ounce of fat is on her boobs. No two women's bodies are alike (thank God:-D) and the only way to assess any type of normal across the board is through health. If you are a healthy and happy woman, you are beautiful, end of story.
And those shoes: I thought Crocs were the worst invention ever for a person's feet, but mazal tov sporting nerds, you've officially won out.

I'll talk about the shoes
I just wanna say that I am upset about the whole thing with Dan Choi. And 'More To Love' , wtf? There just always seems to be something to get upset about...and I don't feel like getting upset today. I think that's fair. Right? Yeah... I'll just say it's all messed up. It's ridiculous.
Now about those shoes. I dunno what's going on. I'm going to be honest, too. I'd probably buy them just because...well, they look interesting. There is just no way I will wear them outside of my house - or in the mirror - unless the designers see that maybe they should just finish off this design and make a whole suit of something that look like armor. Am I the only one that can imagine these shoes going with some sort of Master Chief suit of armor? ..... Or was that just really geeky?
Whatevs. I'm just saying, the shoes look like they would go great with ... armor...? Ok, I'm just going to stop talking now.
Great Really?! REALLY?!
Did you say what those
Did you say what those shoes were called? I wouldn't buy them but wanna google them. if the toes thing is key, why didn't they just put another layer over the top so you can't see the multiple toes? and hire a designer who deals in aesthetics as well as their scientific people

So, I'm a bit behind on my own personal rants on my myspace.. be it good ones or angry ones.
Within the past two days I've posted two long ones. One of which is in regards to Dan. I'll post diff parts here cause I dont feel like saying it all again lol.
12,500 + soldiers of our U.S. military are now gone because of their sexual preference. If we’re going to continue the blame game on countries and people for weakening our country, we need to look at ourselves if we want any progress on stabilizing this country.
Dan Choi is a West Point grad, an Arabic language specialist, and a veteran of the Iraq War. He is also a member of West Point's Knight's Out which is an "Organization of the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Alumni of the US Military Academy at West Point and their allies."
The funny thing is.. this story does not surprise me. Nor did it surprise me when Prop 8 was upheld by the California Supreme Court. Prejudice towards gays & lesbians is the only publically acceptable social & legal form of discrimination today.
In the mean time though, it still absolutely disgusts me that men and women put their lives on the lines every single day and fight for a country and its people – who want nothing to do with them in the first place. But we’re also in the middle of a war based on lies that has caused over 4,300 American lives & millions of innocent refugees, so I guess ignorance is just fucking bliss.
I may not be a soldier, I may not have any loved ones in the service, but I can bet good fucking money that if a soldier was in a fox hole fighting for his or her life, and had the choice to keep their fellow “gay” soldier with them to fight, I bet they wouldn’t think twice. And I bet if some ignorant, prejudice anti-gay Christian were ever in trouble be it here on American soil or in the middle of an attack in Fallujah – they’d want those 12,500 soldiers by their fucking side.

I don't see much wrong with the shoes
I would much rather wear those shoes than say UGS or Crocs.
"Those who restrain desire, do so because theirs is weak enough to be restrained" - William Blake
UGS and Crocs
hahahhaa
i definitely agree.. you couldnt make me wear ugs, crocs, or those creepy looking toe shoes.
A beautiful girl can make you dizzy, like you've been drinking jack and coke all morning.
-Taking Back Sunday-
Michelle, you rock my world.
Yo...
I didn’t know about Dan Choi. Gonna read up on him…. Looks like we have a Gay Marine killed here (on Tuesday-Camp Pendelton)
segragation&shoes
ok so the dan thing is sad and i really dont understand it. i watched a doc. a few weeks ago about why the US army cant let openly gay men and women to serve in the army and their conclusion was that they need people to fight and what eva. basically had a really stupit lame excuse. they forget that israel, britain, and a few others (dont remember which) allow openly gay men and woman to serve in the army and it works out really well and as far as i know they fight too. a good friend of mine (a gay guy) was the commander of his platoon.
all i can say about segragation is that am an idealist jsut like you!! and this obsession with weight is driving me crazy! let women be women!!
and the shoes are cool... =)
ya am a dork.
I like the nerdy shoes
Being a nerd, I think it's a fabulous idea for rock climbers, and different sports that could benefit from having monkey feet. It's like mittens -vs- gloves: Which is easier to wear and still be able to function? I think it's pretty neat haha
I personally hate the feeling of anything between my toes- I like my piggies free.
HAHA
In my country, we have that kind of SOCKS since long before. As far as i know, some guys over 40 or sth wear these socks to prevent their feet from having athelete's foot.
Check this out here.

anyways,
Shoes look worse than socks i think. lol
(I watched Really Really for the first time, and I found it pretty easy to understand for me. Many Vlogs from Afterellen are little bit fast to understand for me. Hehe. Because I'm not that good at English :( But I'll keep trying. haha)
i would totally wear those shoes!
i dont understand why anyone would even be scared or ashamed of wearing them. they're just shoes..get over yallselves; its not that big of a deal. im sure there's some poor kid in africa who would love to have a pair of those shoes.
i think the shoes will make me feel like a power ranger or something and that would be really cool. yeah, im only talking about the shoes because thats all i wanted to hear so i fast forwarded the video to get to it. might i say that its complicated to fast forward a video on here.
nonetheless, i would totally buy them. they kind of look like swimming shoes. i think my feet would do better with them because i can spread my toes apart. unlike when i wear normal shoes and i have to keep my toes together. they cant go nowhere. i hope they come in a size 5 or 5 and a half.
I love you platonically =p
I agree with what you're saying Michelle.
My friend wore those to school! lol I think they're dorky fun. =p
lol
fyi if i see anybody wearing those shoes i will laugh my ass off. i may even pick on them... just being honest
so So SO disappointed...
First things first...THANK YOU!!! For not talking about the recent passing of certain celebs lately...one in particular I'm rather tired of hearing about. Personally I feel that Farrah Fawcett was DRASTICALLY overshadowed by Michael Jackson and MJ's death was a publicity stunt that backfired (that was actually someone elses theory that I sort of ran with) but like you said...the media has done a good job of covering that so you don't need to. Enough said about that sad sad subject.
DADT!!! WHY DO WE STILL HAVE THIS!?! In a way, no, gay people are NOT any less at risk than straight people are. Every person who enlists in the military is putting their lives on the line to protect this country. If someone, ANYONE is willing to put their life on the line and serve their country with honor and dignity then why tell them no? Unless someone has a life threatening illness or disability that would prevent them from passing a physical exam then WHY tell them no? In some ways someone who is gay would be more at risk than someone who is straight just because of the hate and bigotry toward the LGBT community however that risk is only slightly more. There have been polls taken from active military personel where they have stated that they don't care one way or the other if someone in their unit is gay so long as they do their job and would have their back the same way everyone has each others back. Why is this even still an issue?
More to love? WTF!?! Why single someone out because of their size? Why is size even an issue? We are all people!!! I totally agree when you say that all sizes should be mixed together. I think it is wrong that on the Bachelor all the women are a size 6 or smaller. Why is it the only women we see on shows like that have to have a supermodel figure? That's discrimination!!! Not to mention if you're gonna have a show like that why give it a title like "More To Love" that's like saying "Hey look at me I'm fat and I'm looking for my next boyfriend on a reality tv show" It's stupid!!! What's worse is that we have yet to see a Bachelor or Bachelorette that is gay or lesbian...the closest thing we've had to that is that stupid show on Mtv A Shot At Love. Why does a show like that have to be on Mtv and not on a regular network? Why can't we have a Bachelorette that is attracted to women and only women? GRRRRR this is why I dislike television in general. Personally I would like to see a show where a transguy is looking for love. It's so much harder for guys like me to find love than it is for the typical straight biomale.
okay, yes.
I would totally rock those shoes!
I know a lot of you are hating on those toe shoes, but they look kind of awesome and fun to me. I would love to walk into a 7-11 at 3am in the morning wearing nothing but a bathrobe and those shoes just to see the looks on people's faces.
Also, on the off chance that I get cast as an extra for a Planet of the Apes remake, I'll already have the shoes for the job.

Those shoes look better than
First things first, Marry
First things first, Marry Me Michelle =) Just kidding, but I have to say you are beautiful inside and out.
Concerning the DADT policy, I have a big big question: when this was established in Clinton's days, what was their defensive statement as to why gays cannot participate in the military?? Seriously, what was their say about it? According to them, how did sexual preference interfere with their performance on the military? I don't get it.
The show is obviously setting the wrong message out there, as opposed to what the creators may think! I think a lot of people have trouble accepting their bodies and sizes (though not all) and it doesn't really help when TV shows set bigger boundaries. To me, it's total discrimination. This isn't a freaking shoe store where you separate the sizes; we're talking about people here for Lola's sake!
Well the only times I'd wear these shoes (whatever they're called again) is if I were dared to, or if I had lost a bet...maybe even if it's a sporting event that imperatively consists of wearing them. Otherwise, I would never choose them over a pair of Nike's, no matter how much they might improve my balance..or something.
And once again, thanks for another great episode :)
Damn I want those shoes!!!
Sorry everyone but I think they look cool and funny and I'm pretty sure they'd be great for outdoor activities...
But then again I have no sense of style and I don't care ;-)
dont ask dont tell/shoes
"Soldiers who are not afraid of guns, bombs, capture, torture, or death say they are afraid of homosexuals. Clearly we should not be used as soldiers; we should be used as weapons." I read this quote from a letter to the editor of the Advocate. I just thought it was such a good quote and it really shows how ridiculous the military is when it comes to gays in the military.
As far as those toe shoes go, i would never in my life walk out of my house in those. They go into the same category as Uggs and Crocs...i dont care how comfortable they are, you will not catch them on my feet lol.
Feet shaped shoes...
... i think, are a bit... ugly and weird. Would be interesting to try them on for the sensation, but would definitely stay home whilst sporting them! A bit yuck.
The military thing makes me angry. Let's say Dan was out on the battlefield and was the only one able to rescue 'the others' to safety. I bet there wouldn't be a problem then. MFers.
Just having fun catching up with RR. Been on the old travels :)
