"Passing for Black" and Cristy Road's "Bad Habits" are up for Lambda's Lit Awards in 2008Every year, the Lambda Literary Foundation recognizes books written by and about members of the LGBT community. This year, they've announced the nominees, which will eventually become a short list which will then be voted on by members of the literary community. This year, it seems queer women have dominated in being overall the most creative, as even in their specific categories, their stories are told in the most different of ways (from graphic novels to first-person narratives to odes to The Indigo Girls). Although that will probably make it more difficult for the judges to make their decisions, it gives me a lot of reading to catch up on over the holidays. Cristy Road and a panel from "Bad Habits: A Love Story" Some of the nominees are as follows: BISEXUAL Me as Her Again, Nancy Agabian, Aunt Lute Books Open, Jenny Block, Seal Press Sexual Fluidity: Understanding Women's Love & Desire, Lisa M. Cristy Road!
I adore Cristy Road! She's the reason I got into illustration.
Yay!
Thank you
for this mention of the Lambda awards. One correction: these are judged awards and are not voted on by Lambda foundation members. Books are nominated by their publishers; the whole process of nominating and narrowing to a short list of finalists is on the web site, www.lambdaliterary.org.

Yes, that is where I took my information from. Sorry if it wasn't made clear enough.
From the site:
Each year, over 80 judges -- writers, booksellers, librarians, journalists -- assess the entries in more than 20 categories.
These judges will narrow down the list from what it is above.
Trish!
Thank you so much for mentioning my book, Over the Course of a Lifetime, in the debut fiction category. I also have the honor of being nominated for Poems Beyond the Journey in the lesbian poetry category.
More information about the titles is available at www.InvinciblePublishing.ws.
Thanks again and best wishes to you and the AfterEllen.com community.
Passing for Black
I am so damn happy this was nominated! It was one of my favorite reads of the Summer and I passed it on to all my friends.
Congratulations, Linda!
