She Got Me Pregnant: Episode 79This week, Dana and Helen of Mombian.com share viewer comments on favorite Disney films and tackle neighbors' assumptions about lesbians and men.
Then they discuss two picture books they've enjoyed recently. One is a new book for older elementary students and features an interracial lesbian family. The other is an older book about a penguin who isn't necessarily gay, but is definitely an individual. Check back next Thursday for a new episode. Submitted by on August 20, 2009 - 10:00am. |

Yeah, Tacky
On the topic of last week...
Have you guys seen Mulan? It's a fantastic movie about a strong woman who may have to bend a few rules and/or gender stereotypes to save her family but ultimately saves the Chinese Empire from being conquered.
Also: Spirited Away is a GREAT movie. I'm not that big a fan of anime but this is just really good.
Anyway. Keep up the great vlogs - they're entertaining even for non-mombians ;-D
I like my women like I like my poetry: strong, beautiful and rhythmic

Lol, I don't know why the pink elephants scared me so much, but it did to the point that whenever my elementary school teacher passed out these pink and vanilla elephant cookies I would only eat the vanilla ones and had to give the pink ones away. Couldn't even stand being near it. I know I have issues, lol. Anyways, I don't have anything insightful to add to this weeks topic, but I think your vlogs are great. It's very inspiring to see two women in a stable committed relationship raising a family together. Thank you.

I can't really think of any "must see" disney movies but I can name some ones I watched as a kid and enjoyed. An American Tail was a pretty good movie its not by Disney btw. I liked The Great Mouse detective, its a retelling of Sherlock Holmes with rodents.
Howls Moving Castle is a good anime to watch. I know it may be too early to watch in japanese with subtitles but once he is old enough it is essential! This particular anime has A-rank actors doing the english voices but Japanese is always better. Spirited Away is another anime high on disney's list of user rated movies.
Wow i just found this article about someones daughter who learns to enjoy reading through subtitled anime. Amazing! Another site says you can start at age 8.

"Finland has the highest reading scores of any children because it imports a lot of English language programmes and they are subtitled."
Anyways good luck I always enjoy your parenting discussion.
