Dana and Helen of Mombian.com discuss how marriage equality in Vermont and Iowa affects families with kids, and, being coastal types, ask for ideas about family-friendly tourist attractions in Iowa.
They also talk about why this year's White House Egg Roll broke new ground, and wonder what to do with the three tons of chocolate their son managed to collect over the holidays.

I LOVE IOWA!!!
I''m from Iowa and I am/was SO proud when the law passed at home...and even more happy I was at home the day it passed! I think people would be suprised at how accepting Iowa and Iowans are...I realized it more after I moved to Texas for school. And unfortunately Iowa isnt a big tourist attraction but there are some things to do. Oh! Ragbrai is the biking event which the ladies were talking about and it is across the whole state, but dont be fooled into thinking Iowa is completely flat! : )
So my TOP 5 THINGS TO DO IN IOWA are:
1) Iowa State Fair (its only 10 days in August but its AMAZING and I think the biggest now)
2) Field of Dreams movie set...its pretty cool to see, especially if you liked the movie
3) Bridges of Madison County...another movie set, but beautiful scenery and if you go in the fall there are alot of family friendly events around town
4) Tulip Time in Pella Iowa in the spring is actually a pretty cool event and very kid friendly
5) Des Moines Arts Festival (and the Wine Festival is around this time also) both very great events and family friendly. also the Farmers Market is downtime during this time and the science center is close by too.
If anyone is going to Iowa these are some cool events, that as an Iowan I really love. Hope everyone decides to come get married! : ) And as far as I know our Governor as made public statements saying he will support gay marriage so long live equal rights!!! : )
