Missy Higgins puts out two new EPs and moves back to Australia

Bisexual singer/songwriter Missy Higgins just released a new EP, More Than This, which includes a cover of the Roxy Music song by the same name. Although the EP is only available in Australia, Higgins has also released an Acoustic Sessions EP that's available digitally everywhere, and includes stripped-down versions of songs form On A Clear Night, including "Where I Stood," "Secret," "Peachy" and "Forgive Me."

With a new album in the works (and no release date in sight), Higgins told an interviewtralia's The Age that More Than This is something she was excited to do because she wanted to interpret Roxy Music's song in her own way. The song has become number one on iTunes in Australia, which also happens to coincide with her move back to Melbourne after living in Los Angeles for 10 months.

"I feel great," Higgins told the newspaper. "I feel more settled as a human being."

She also briefly touched on how coming out as bisexual last year has made her feel much better about all the talk regarding her orientation:

If I was honest about it in the first place, it wouldn't have reached the crescendo that it did. It's good that it's passed. I had faith it would.

Higgins has been very eco-conscious, utilizing green technology for her tours and standing against an industralizing proposal that would threaten wild parts of Western Australia. Higgins says all profits from More Than This will be given to help fight the plans.

"It's the most beautiful, untouched place I've ever experienced," Higgins said. "It's a tragedy, and I've been doing everything I can to campaign against the gas hub."

Aussies, will you buy the EP and join the anti-industralization campaign? I've already downloaded my Acoustic Sessions EP, just for "Secret," her song about a girl that didn't want to come out when she was with Missy. The nerve!

I actually think that I saw

I actually think that I saw "More than This" on Amazon or somewhere for download in the US...of course I can't remember where, and I'll probably never find it again...oh well.

I absolutely LOVE Missy Higgins are her music.  I'm kinda bummed to hear about her moving back to Australia, b/c I fear that we won't be hearing a lot more of her in the US because of that :(

I'm a 'fan' of hers on Facebook, and she sent out a message to everyone who was (over 20,000 people at the time) related to the decision of the CA Supreme Court to hear oral arguments regarding Prop 8.  I thought that was uber-cool.

I'll do anything for her...

amazon has "More than This" single. they dun have the whole album. Hopefully that will be availble soon on itunes.

I found out abt Missy last december on Afterellen. n' I fell in love w/ her songs immediately! I can't believe I didn't know abt her before then! But great thing I found her! It was like perfect timing too...cuz i just broke up w/ my girlfriend of 2 yrs, she didn't wanna come out, so we were in the dark. Her songs is like freaking amazing n' totally touched my heart. n' got/getting me through this terrible time.

But good thing she just stopped by SF twice in March n' April.. of course I went to see her @ both shows. She's an amazing person! Great voice, great songs, great looks :P. she's super super nice~ n' funny!

It's sad for us in the States that Missy is going back home. >.< . But I'll support her either way! But hopefully she'll come back to us often..(fingers cross). But I guess I'll fly to australia for her:D

There is something abt her voice n' lyrics that's very healing.

i quite enjoyed having her tour here for so many months, as i'm a huge fan of her, her activism, and her music.

hopefully she will come back to tour here for the next album in a few years, but i'll miss the luxury of easy access to good live music until then!

and in our honesty, together we will rise. out of our nightminds and into the light at the end of the fight...

My day stared out very sucky today, waking up an hour before my alarm tired as hell and not being able to go back to sleep. After reading this article, my mood has improved ten fold.

Welcome Home Missy, we love you!! Please tour far and wide.

I've seen Missy three times

I've seen Missy three times in the past two months in the US and it wasn't nearly enough!  She's absolutely amazing and adorable.  I know she wrote many songs from On A Clear Night in Australia, so if her newest album turns out to be just as great I guess I can accept her moving there... as long as she comes back to the US soon :)

Sweet music!

I'm excited to hear about Missy's new EPs!  I love her music very much, and the fact that she's passionate about the environment is doubly awesome.  And that she's bi too....but hey.

Missy

I love Missy. And I must say that my iTunes sometimes knows better than I. It's on shuffle mode and the last two songs were by Missy. I can only hope that she continues to produce fabulous music, which I'm sure she will.
