"Law & Order" utilizes the Letterman scandal for a lesbian storylineLaw & Order is famous for ripping its storylines from headlines, so no celebrity is safe. The show is now casting for an episode based on the recent David Letterman scandal, in which he publicly announced that he had relationships with several women working on his show and was being blackmailed by one of the women's new boyfriend. But this is the intriguing part: The show is going to make the TV host character female, so it'll be a lesbian-based plot. Also, the faux show will be more like The View than a late night talk program, which can only make things more interesting. Perhaps Whoopi Goldberg is available?
E! News reports that the female host (named Vanessa Carville) will be a "well-known celebrity talk-show host, married with children" that has had “a series of short-lived affairs with some of the employees on the show and up until now has managed to keep them off the radar.” Someone will try to blackmail Vanessa with threats to expose private photos and e-mails unless she hands over $3 million. Possible spoilers ahead! Vanessa will then go to to DA Jack McCoy for help and will eventually decide to drop the charges to save face and the other women from being exposed. Of course, it's Law & Order so the episode is also described as "violent" and will most likely not end with the host dropping the case. You don't get off that easy (ask David Letterman).
What do you think will happen on the lesbian storyline? We'll keep you posted once there is an air date announced. Submitted by on November 6, 2009 - 2:00pm. |

I predict...
that the closeted lesbian or bisexual tv show host will end up killing someone...because isn't it always the gay girl who is the killer on the Law and Order shows? Or maybe one of her former affairs finds out that she is not the only one (as she thought) and so out of jealousy kills one of the other women the host had an affair with.
And who is exactly blackmailing her? A former girlfriend of one of the women she had an affair with?
However this shakes loose...my prediction is that the gay girl did it!
^^
Yes the gay girl did it!!
_________
vivono nella speranza
It's like the game of Clue, except...
You already know who did it: Whoever is gayest! First, they'll go after the really gay one, who will claim to have nothing to hide, and then they'll go after the closeted one. After a dead end, the trail will lead back to the host, where, in a surprise twist, the really gay one was the one who actually did it!
And by "did it", I don't mean anything fun. But if they get Rosie, Whoopi, or Joy on there, they'll have my attention!
when is it on in west coast canada?
I love law and Order!
Law and order...so, not too sure about this....
BUT, I think it airs at about 8:00pm your time. I live in the eastern part of Canada so this is merely by my calculations..and my satellite programming guide. :P
Hope that helps. :D
I join the rest of ya.....the gay one, like, so did it!
Fridays @ 8
Hmph.
Okay so it's totally my bad for jumping the gun, BUT...
As soon as I saw that headline I thought: "Mariska and lesbians! WIN!"
And then I realised that you're not talking about THAT Law & Order...
Damnitall.
Me too!!
Hmm, ok. Although it sounds
sounds interesting
I'm a big SVU fan! I'll watch and see what they'll do with it. I don't think it will be Whoopi though, possibly Hasselbeck...
Okay, here is my take on things
I Love It... WE are EveryWhere ...
yes , this sounds like a good story line... the only thing missing is Mariska to come on board to help solve this " Special Victim " case ... and a suspect or two hit on her ... I think NBC should have all of US help write the script for this show.... can't wait to see it ..
Olivia & Alex cross over...
It would be great if Olivia and Alex crossed over from SVU to help solve that case. We could see Olivia and Alex at a lesbian bar, dancing, kissing, smooching, ...yum..., and then they can solve the case....come out of the closet themselves, and go back to SVU and tell the guys they are together...happy ending for all!
Oooh! Oooh! I know who the killer is!
It was Colonel Mustard in the Conservatory with the candlestick!
I never did trust that guy...
DAMN
I saw the title and hoped Olivia was going to be involved in the lesbian storyline :S Why not? We all know Benson's never going to go for Elliot! I hope D:

I'm one of those regular weird people.-Janis Joplin
I second that!
Move this on on over to SVU so Olivia can be in it, please!
Am I the only one that wanted Olivia to end up with Casey Novak?
You're not the only one
Haha
Good! I'm glad I'm not alone. You're right, the signs were there!
Affairs with other *women*?
I had the same thought
I had the same thought myself.
The wording of the show description says the tv show host "has had a series of short-lived affairs with some of the employees on the show"...doesn't actually say whether those employees are women or men. I could easily see this being a complete gender flip on the Letterman case whereby the tv show host is female & the coworkers are male.
one of the flings
I think the blackmailer will get killed by one of the 'flings' of the talk-show host, because theyre still in love with her, or are afraid of being outed themselves.
And I so agree, I wish this was on SVU, cause thats the only one I actually watch...olivia's sexy : P
It irritates me that they
It irritates me that they remapped David Letterman's indiscretions onto a lesbian character, and being Law & Order, you know it's not gonna end well.
This plus the recent episode 'Dignity' pushing a pro-life, anti-Roe v. Wade agenda equals me not watching anymore.
Ah, the ever present,
Ah, the ever present, gay friendly "Law and Order" franchise (rolls eyes). The only way I'd watch is if A) the lesbian talk ahow host ran off with Alana De La Garza or B) Elizabeth Rohm (Southerlyn) showed up as her defense attorney.
"Is this because I'm a lesbian?" LOL.
Is this because I am a lesbian?
I saw the "coming out" of Serena this weekend and again I thought, this was the most random statement from the wirters of Law & Order... WTF...never any indication prior to her being fired!?!?!?!
It was extremely
It was extremely random. I thought it was a lesbian urban legend until I saw the clip on you tube. It was probably Dick Wolf's idea of representation; at least she didn't kill someone on the way out. It's one of the funniest (unintended comedy at that) scenes in the history of the show.
too true
i was like 'what? what did she just say?' and then was in hysterics
oh the lulz
I love this show! Can't
I love this show!
Can't wait to see this!!
i still like this show, but...
it annoys the hell out of me! i started watching it again when Linus Roache joined the cast, 'cause i really like him. but every single episode is based on something recent that really happened. they call it "ripped from the headlines." and i know that's what this show does... but it's still annoying. i don't think Law & Order has done an original script since, well, maybe ever!
i'm not gonna lie, though, i still watch it. so i guess i should shut up! : )
