Kerry Washington eyes the role of Kristin Chenoweth’s lover in the Dusty Springfield biopic

Broadway.com is reporting that Kerry Washington (Ray, The Last King of Scotland) could soon be signed on to play opposite Kristin Chenoweth in the upcoming Dusty Springfield biopic. Chenoweth will play the bisexual chanteuse and Washington would play Dusty’s “African-American female lover.” The site notes that Chenoweth originally told E! last year that she’d love to have Kerry play the part, and Kerry told the press today that she ran into Kristin in L.A. and told her she’d love to play her girlfriend. “It’s very exciting,” Washington said. “I feel like I’ve been waiting to make out with her forever.” I’ll pause while several of you nod in agreement.

Kerry Washington is an accomplished actress who has also played gay twice before in Spike Lee‘s She Hate Me and The Dead Girl, in which she got down with Brittany Murphy. And while the Dusty biopic is still in its beginning stages, I think it’s safe to say that it could easily draw in the crowds with these two starring and a killer soundtrack featuring “Son of a Preacher Man.”
