Kelly Clarkson and Melissa Etheridge get together on "VH1 Divas Live"

If you didn't catch the VH1 Divas Live last week, lucky for you, the channel replays their content — a lot. Here's what you may have missed:

At one point, host Paula Abdul danced down the aisles, dressed as Ellen, who is replacing her as a judge on American Idol this season.

Soon after it aired, Ellen tweeted her response to the impersonation:

Paula — you’re hilarious. You’ve left me some big shoes to fill … unfortunately I don’t wear high heels. Nothing but love for you too.

And the most lesbian moment of the night included Melissa Etheridge performing a duet with Kelly Clarkson on "Bring Me Some Water."

Other vocalists included Adele, Jennifer Hudson, Indie Arie, Cyndi Lauper, Leona Lewis, Jordin Sparks and Miley Cyrus, but I have to say, I think the Etheridge and Clarkson performance was the most rocking of the night.

    Unfortunately I can't watch the videos, I don't know if it's just my computer or if they're geo-blocked (who invented that crap?!?!?!) so I can't judge Kelly Clarkson's performance. But I watched the Ellen-impersonation on youtube and thought it was very funny! It was right on the spot, the suit looked fine on Paula Abdul, more people should copy Ellen's way of dressing ;)

    "Bring Me Some Water" is my FAVORITE Melissa Etheridge song and generally I hate it when people mess with an awesome original but it sounded awesome. Their voices went really well together. Melissa is always great and Kelly complemented her well.

    Miley Cyrus has no business being anywhere but the Teen Choice awards because they are the only reason she's in business.

     

    What I find kind of weird is that Melissa also did a duet with Joan Osbourne to this very same song - which was super badass.

    could someone pls post the videos on youtube or something? cause I can't watch them from germany (and btw, also, who thought it was a good idea to put country restrictions on internet videos??? do they hate everybody except americans this much???)

    With all the slow songs and ballads (boring!) Melissa and Kelly rocked :) And I agree with you, Hornito: their duet reminded me of the one Melissa did with Joan Osborne years ago. I think Melissa even released it as a "B-side" or something. I'm sure I have it on CD somewhere...

    adele's performance. :] she gives so much soul into all her songs and i think she's one of the most talented singers out there right now. ^_^

    The only part of the show that I found enjoyable was the very end - with Sheryl Crow & Miley Cyrus (I only tolerated Miley because of Sheryl's appearance) and the Kelly/Melissa duet.

    that was the best performance of the night i believe, adele and india arie's duet was amazing too.

    OMG at last an article about it! Ha, poor Paula Abdul stumbled around... she's sort of a hot mess... and her Ellen impersonation, it was pretty good. OMG Kelly Clarkson and Melissa Hotness Etheridge... wow...Melissa looked sooooo gooood I mean.. wow...she looked lickable... and I have to say I was impressed with Kelly, this is the second performance of her that I liked a lot... this one and the one she did on MTV Awards 2005... Since U Been Gone.. where she got wet and everyone else... it was pretty cool.

    Miley... she's overrated...

    does anyone else think its interesting that kelly did a duet with melissa, bc of the rumors that she is gay? i love it.

     

    i actually only saw 2 things from kelly clarkson that night- this performance and her saying "im so excited ellen is going to be a judge on idol, she's my favorite person in the entire world!"
