I love everything she does!
great singer-songwriter
i heard of chris pureka awhile back when she did backing for alix olson and others like andrea gibson, and i absolutely love her voice. it's got an awesome quality to it that grabs you and makes you want to keep listening.
my favorite is the guitar melody on her song "california," from the EP she talks about. her CDs are totally worth purchasing, in my humble opinion.
and in our honesty, together we will rise. out of our nightminds and into the light at the end of the fight...
Wow, another amazing artist
Wow, another amazing artist discovered through AE! =) I've never heard of her, is she fairly popular in the US?
Until I've found an affordable way to purchase her EP I'll stick with listening to more stuff on youtube though the quality sucks...
I LOVE HER MUSIC! Thanks

One of my favorite songs hasto be her and Alix Olson doing "Checking My Pulse"

Misleading Lack of Attribution
As stated in the blog post, the clip was produced by NewNowNext
Actually, Trish Bendix is not claiming "credit" for shooting this video. She clearly states in the first sentence of the blog post, "Out singer/songwriter Chris Pureka recently sat down with LOGO's NewNowNext Noise while she was in NYC for a performance at Joe's Pub."
This video was created BY LOGO to run on any Logo properties - like all Logo videos - and it's not standard practice for Logo or any other website to list the names of which of their company's employees or interns worked on a video, unless they decide to put the names in the credits of the video itself. All of the NNN vlogs on AfterEllen.com are posted in this manner.
"by trish bendix" is misleading on a lot of your posts actually
most people reading websites think that "by trish bendix" means the contents are "by trish bendix." you guys do this all over your site, it took me two years to figure it out honestly, i thought wow trish makes a lot of vlogs for afterellen she must never sleep!
on new now next it is attributed to kelsey lisette so that's not true that it's run that way on other logo websites. all the other logo websites credit their photographers and interviewers.
but i don't see it done on any other site besides afterellen, so you can't blame someone for reading it that way. if it says "by trish bendix," then any normal web-surfing innocent person (or someone looking for the work of potential employees) thinks she wrote the article and conducted the interview which was not attributed to any human being besides her.
it could be an innocent mistake if afterellen could just consider that not everyone who reads this place is an insider and knows how you roll. See, "by [author name]" is a pretty standard indicator for almost any other website of who is responsible for the article's content, espcially when produced by a sister website.
if this is what you do for all the NNN vlogs, why? why not credit the creators. interns and employees need clips for resumès, i was an intern once and always appreciated the care they took in crediting everything i ever did for them to imprve my future job prospects.
just something to think about, karmen, not trying to be aggressive but i think it's worth looking at.
Waiting for Correction
It is very poor form to run interviews without properly attributing the source. The newnownext site attributes this properly (to kelsey lisette), so it is not as though it would have required any extra effort whatsoever. Also, Pureka clearly doesn't say anything about "helping lesbians hook up"- that must have been a misguided paraphrase of the text from the newnownext post (again, by kelsey lisette).

I think it was a relatively
karmen come back and do this!
sorry still thinking about this ! karmen i mean no harm or attack, and i like this site, but i think the problem here is you don't see how this language is so insidery. i think as popular as you are you should know that a casual reader has no idea what "LOGO's NewNowNext Noise" is, but they do know that "By Trish Bendix" means the article is "by trish bendix." why would anyone who doesn't have the insdier knowledge that you have karmen even KNOW that trish is not the prson who did the interview for Logo? Actually even people who DO knw they don't know how your company is laid out or who does what.
like i said in my last comment; a few years ago i thought trish made all the vlogs cause that's what it says. idk, i like afterellen and all but stuff like this keeps making me feel like maybe it's not the great site it once was that you wont help other girls out. it makes me sad which is why i was sad to see here it is still not fixed. why not just do the right thing. i don't understand why you won't just credit that girl like newnownext did. it's ok to have made a mistake we all do.
lol, back to having a life now. just saw this on twitter and it reminded me of another similar problem, i know ur all busy but comeon.
thanks karmen!
Credits for video blogs
Credits for videos have always been in the credits section of the video itself, since movies and TV were invented, and that is standard practice for videos on the web, too.
We don't have the staff to research, list, and verify the spelling and title of everyone who worked on a video we embed in a blog post (not to mention that this information isn't even publicly available in many cases).
It might seem like a minor request to you, but it's not when you factor in all the videos we embed every week, and the volume of other work on our plate.
If we list one person's name, then we're likely to get contacted by another person who also worked on the video asking why they weren't credited, or asking us for a correction of their title, etc.
Multiply that times the thousands of videos we have on the site from over the years, and we would be focusing on nothing else but video credits all day long. That is why the responsibility is on the video creator's end to add credits to the video if they think they're important.
Get a life!
This is too funny! Why does anyone care (then or now) who shot some little video about some singer most of us have never heard of? Are you up for an Emmy or something? And this was put up back in June 09, but you're bitching about not getting credit now? However did you miss this last year? And btw, google yourself much?
I saw this same video on downelink and they didn't give credit whoever shot it. Aren't you just glad a few people are watching it?
And Antonia- "a few years ago i thought trish made all the vlogs cause that's what it says. idk, i like afterellen and all but stuff like this keeps making me feel like maybe it's not the great site it once was that you wont help other girls out"
Wasn't Karmen just promoted to Editor in Chief like a few weeks ago? How is this her fault?
But you're right, we should all help other girls out. Why don't you start by stopping the passive agressive bullshit.
