GLAAD Awards recognize Ellen and Portia and "The L Word"

shouldn't there be jennifer, laurel, leisha and kate, and not Ilene. It seems like they never invite laurel to any event. what is up with that. maybe IFC, should stay home and give laurel a chance to make an appearance.

I am soooo sick of see ILene's face everywhere.

Maybe I just missed it, but I really think Julia Louis-Dreyfus and her new show has not been given enough press-credit. What a wonderful way the show has brought some very important  issues to the main screen when the new Christine married her best friend because it made the most sense to them overall! I missed the kiss I guess.Thanks so much to Megan Mullally too! These women have been very deliberate allies.

When I see Thea Gill I miss QAF and her  and "Melanie" so much... Just like any of TLW women. They all look so wonderful and beautiful (Agree, Thea does seems very thin) yet overall these women are a great representation for lesbians and bi-sexual women for the world's perception of the lesbian is there upon because she can't get a man.

Although I always feel nervous about yet another of Ellen's love stories, I love how much the world is in love with her and she gets away with anything anymore! I've always loved her comedy and bravery. Her usual compassionate thoughts to dedicate the award to a recent tragic death of the 11-year old is wonderful, and so Ellen. Her hair--hate to bring this up--but it looks like Anne Heche's when they were "married"...And I do think she has lost weight and I don't think it suits her. She probably has been following Portia's vegan eating plan (it isn't for everyone). 

No Wanda Sykes? Very surprised.

And I usually don't think this of any one person, but Jennifer Beals is in an award catagory all of her own; she is just stunning, and that can't be just cosmetic.

Julia and Megan's kiss on New Adventures of Old Christine???  When did that happen?

So happy for Ellen & Portia. Her speech was really sweet, and they both look great and so happy!

And it's soooo good to see Thea. She looks gorgoues as always. :)

looks completely breath taking

i saw her picture and i was just like woah, and my breath was quite literally taken away....

absolutely beautiful, stunning, gorgeous, amazing, just wow.

I hope that they didn't win for "the kiss" but for "the episode."  Because the kiss was okay, but the theme of the episode made it well worth GLAAD approval.  The episode is about how the company that owns Christine and Barb's gym came to renew their contract, and all was well until Christine said she was married to Barb and then they wanted to revoke the contract for "values" reasons.  It then comes out that Christine and Barb aren't actually gay, they are just married for citizenship, and THAT is okay with the company.  But Christine struggles with the idea that this company is bigoted and eventually decides that even though they could sign, they don't want to be part of the bigotry.

I thought it was great because it was portrayed as a struggle and I think a lot of people could relate to that.  She wants to do what's right but that might be really hard for her and it isn't really her fight, so should she?

The kissing scene was actually my least favorite part of the episode because I thought it recyled the tired idea of the homophobe being a closeted homo, besides the "hot women kissing=good for guys" issue. 

I enjoyed IC's little speech (little --- tonque in cheek) anyway if she wrote it herself, not bad. Of course the same old self promotion but; what the hey. The L word was ground breaking, it gave us something we needed and even though it died a painful, ugly death, certainly could have been better, it does deserve recoginition.

I don't mind letting IC pat herself on the back yet again. I did appreciate Jennifer's  small step toward honesty in her interview. "Though flawed" yada, yada - yes Jen we noticed, and finally someone from the show said it out loud.

I hope in 5 years that tlw is not all we had or will have, prospects sure seem slim...

I thought it was weird how Ilene, Kate, and Leisha are all wearing black but Jennifers in a bright yellow.

yay ellen and portia! Not a huge fan of ellens new hair, but she can pull it off. 

It was also nice to see mandy musgrave. I miss south of nowhere...

Praise the women at GLAAD: they all shine.

Megan Mullally is unbelievable. I still love her from Karen (W&G), but look at her: she's beautiful and always have that look in her eyes...

p.s. Jennifer Beals is stunning.

are looking very thin and tired. i can't help it, but this picture is just awful. both their faces have effectively collapsed. maybe it's just the smiling all the time and the wrong moment that the picture was taken.
