Clea DuVall is coming to your TV in time for Christmas

I know I'm not the only one who has been enamored with Clea DuVall since she played Graham in But I'm a Cheerleader. You might have discovered her earlier on, thinking she was hot as the mean Goth chick in She's All That or as the, uh, mean Goth chick in The Faculty. Inspired by both Clea and But I'm a Cheerleader, though, I can probably claim her as part of my "root."

Since the turn of the new millennium, Clea has played some different kinds of roles, including a part as a mom in a turtleneck sweater in The Grudge and a feature role on the short-lived HBO series Carnivale. Despite steadily working, she's managed to coast under the mainstream radar, even while appearing as a recurring character on Heroes and in bigger films like 21 Grams and Identity.

Entertainment Weekly recently made my day when they announced Clea would be appearing on one of my favorite shows, Law and Order: SVU this December. There isn't any news about her role so far, but it has been reported she will appear on the same episode as Mike Farrell and Gilmore Girls' Kelly Bishop. The episode is slated to run on Dec. 2.

What kind of character will she play? In her experience, she's often been cast as the "dark girl," despite having tried to shake it up with roles like the aforementioned turtleneck mom in The Grudge. (Sorry, I'll never get over it.)

Currently, Clea can be seen in Passengers alongside Anne Hathaway. She plays Shannon, who is described by the New York Daily News as "the world's worst angry-sullen group-therapy participant." (Her part in Girl Interrupted comes to mind.)

At this point, I'd love to see Clea do something completely different, like play a lawyer, or maybe even show up on the flip side of the coin as a psychologist helping out some poor, dark, mean Goth girl.

Really, though, I have one dream only, and it involves Clea and my favorite SVU detective. Dick Wolf, make it happen.

Clea the psychologist...

"show up on the flip side of the coin as a psychologist helping out some poor, dark, mean Goth girl."

 Heehee, I'm amused.

Your dream, my dream, our dream

The words Clea du Vall + Law & Order: SVU is of course just a longer way of saying lesbians all over the world are holding their breaths (okay, a shorter way). Cleaivia? Vallenson? Oh right, the charachter will have another name. *slap*

Wouldn't hold my breath -

Wouldn't hold my breath - SVU guest appearances tend to be of the "victim of the week" variety.

i love clea

and can't wait to see her again on tv.

it's such a shame that she never got the recognition she deserves. she is in so many movies and tv shows, yet when I mention her name I only get blank stares...

saw her at the Vancouver Queer Film Festival. she is really gorgeous in an intense kind of way. one of the "interesting" people one would ask out for a coffee ;)

Clea on "Grey's Anatomy"

She was great on her two-episode arc on "Grey's Anatomy" last season, too. Pretty awesome to have been on both that and "Heroes" during the same season. Talk about a great résumé.

Call me a carnie lover, but...

...Carnivale is a one of the most beautifully-filmed shows I've ever seen. It's totally worth the price of a two-season DVD set. Orrr at least a trip over to YouTube to check it out, =).

I love Clea, and I love SVU. I don't expect much, but I'll be watching.

Agreed, I loved that show,

Agreed, I loved that show, it still remains one of my favourites. Shame it had to end when it did. Go and get the DVDs!

Clea is the bomb, she rocks in everything she does. There's just something about her, she has this sense of intrigue

She's definitely at least part of my "root"

I love love love her. I saw her first in The Faculty and remember feeling really disappointed when she ended up with that guy in the end. It wasn't until I saw But I'm a Cheerlearder that I realized why I was so disappointed. I haven't been as obsessed with her lately but now I'm looking forward to seeing her on SVU.

Yay

I've been a fan of her since she played 'invisible girl' on Buffy The Vampire Slayer way back when.

Now that she's going to be on SVU it's like I've died and gone to heaven (well maybe not died, just went to heaven)

I'm excited to catch her on

I'm excited to catch her on SVU- even though I agree with those that she will probably be the victim. She did do very well on Grey's but yes, I could stand to see her in a different type of role...she's got this kind mastered.  Fingers crossed for a great role for her!

Going back to Faculty days, it'll be great seeing Clea on SVU and a few weeks before that, Jordana Brewster on Chuck!

Nice use of "root", Trish!

It's good to see that

SVU is putting on such a great actress.

It is nice to see the TV shows with more viewers than ever putting more and more diverse actresses on screen. I saw Lara from Lword( Dana's girl and then Alice's) as the new CSI replacing Warrick brown this week. I about fell off the couch and then cheered!!

saw it

The episode aired tonight, did anyone else see it?

It was absolutely incredibily. Clea, Judith Light, Kelly Bishop and espeically Brenda Blethyn did an absolutely amazing job.

I feel like I've seen Clea in similar roles before. But here's the crazy thing. I really don't think I've ever seen Clea more attractive. I mean, holy crap. RADIANT. And she's sort of starting to look a little like her girlfriend. Maybe it was the make up, I don't know. But they don't usually let the characters that Clea tends to play, be so glamourous. She was beautiful.

The episode might actually have been the most amazing SVU ep I've ever seen. It's absolutely heart breaking and takes a really interesting turn in the second half.
