"Women's Murder Club": not dead yet

A few days ago, things looked pretty bleak for Women's Murder Club.

In fact, on Thursday the crew started striking the set, according to Ask Ausiello. But yesterday, ABC announced that the drama has a new showrunner, Robert Nathan, and Murder Club could be back on the air by April. Come on back, ladies.

The plan is to shoot three new episodes this season — and ratings for those episodes will determine whether we'll have a second season of Women's Murder Club. In other words, if you like it, watch it. If you haven't watched it, here are four good reasons to start.

Angie Harmon

Paula Newsome

Aubrey Dollar

Laura Harris

The show had kind of a shaky start, but it got better with each episode as it quit trying to be "Sex and the Naked City" and found its own way. I'd like it more if the women didn't talk about man trouble while standing over a dead body, but the stories are strong enough that I can tolerate the het girl talk.

And, of course, I can't resist a woman with a gun.

Hey, maybe that's why Angie Harmon is a Republican — because she knows she looks hot with a gun. Makes as much sense as anything else.

Are you a Women's Murder Club fan? Will you watch the rest of the season?

    Yay!

That makes me all giggly. I love, love, LOVE that show.

    WMC

I'm ridiculously excited by this news. I've been following the fate of Women's Murder Club fairly closely for the past two weeks, so this news is such a relief. That being said, if you still want the show to come back for a second season, make sure to let ABC know! Check out this website Save WMC for more information.

That being said, I'm somewhat tickled by the fact that Angie Harmon is a Republican - I wonder how she'd react if she ever discovered the amount of femslash that's out there for her character...

    totally

I wonder how she'd react if she ever discovered the amount of femslash that's out there for her character...

There was a lot of femslash for her character Abbie Carmichael too. But I'd like to know how she'd react.

    You don't think she knows?

I know if it were me, I'd totally google myself and my characters. But then, maybe I wouldn't if I were actually famous...who knows.

I'm excited that it's coming back! I will definitely be watching. Not that it'll help. Anyone know how to find those mysterious people who define 'ratings' by their watching habits?

    Yeah ...

I was totally put off her and her character from L&O (Abbie Carmichael) after I found out about her being a Republican, and I'd had a crush on her for quite a while.

Took me a while to re-establish my crush on her, but it's never going to be quite the same.

It's when you find something out about a person like them being Republican that you totally question their value system and their attractiveness to you is totally lost.

    WMC

I am addicted to the "CLUB" and Angie Harmon is pretty dang sexy with or without a gun.

We must have more episodes so the kiss-me-not killer can appear and Lindz can kick that ass.  Sign the petitions and let ABC know we want our women back!!

    Yay! New episodes!

Yay! New episodes! But only three? Is that normal?

Yes, we have to have more episodes so Lindsey Boxer can discover her attraction to women and explore this new and exciting part of her self. Don'tcha think?

Sadly, my watching doesn't count but I'm watching the episodes again now that they're showing them here too. =) Subtitles are always better.

    3 episodes

My understanding is that they had 13 episodes planned for the season originally, but ABC didn't order all of them to production. These 3 new eps bring the total to 13.

    WMC

I only discovered WMC recently, and even if it's not the show of the year, it's still pretty funny. I found myself grinning easily watching the episodes. There's a lack of girl loving but it can be pretty "subtext-y" sometimes too... you just have to watch closely where the actresses'look goes... like cleavage... Laura Harris can have real conversations with Angie Harmon breasts...

    You betcha!

I will definitely watch "Women's Murder Club" when it returns to ABC.  I like the James Patterson books that the show is based upon, besides, Angie Harmon is hot, even if she is a gun-loving Republican.

    This is good news.

I gave the show a try and warmed up to it.  They started a serial killer storyline that I would like to see play-out.  So I will be watching as well as letting ABC know I want a 2nd season.

    I really liked

the interaction between Angie Harmon's character and the young reporter played by Aubrey Dollar.  They're real cute together......I'll be watching the new episodes.

    I'm in

"There are no plans to revamp the series dramatically or shift the emphasis in any way," producer 20th Century Fox Television said in a statement. (this from futoncritic.com) but I dunno.  Sometimes when there's a new sheriff in town things aren't always the way they used to be.

I'm still in though because I'd like to see where they go with the whole Kiss-Me-Not-Killer storyline.  And because it's fun to see Cindy trail Boxer around like a little puppy dog, all crushy and all.  Oh...and did I mention Angie Harmon dressed in black and holding a gun.  <<sigh>>

    No revamp

I think that comment was in response to rumors that the show was going to turn into the Angie Harmon show, with the other characters fading into the background or going away. (Although it's pretty Harmon-centric already.) Hopefully, the producers will give the show a chance to thrive as it is before they do a revamp.

I'm still mad at this show

I'm still mad at this show for keeping Laura Harris out of the Dead Like Me movie.

    I'm a fan...

I love cop shows, and Angie Harmon is too hot for me not to watch. I actually got more into the story lines than I had thought I would. I'm looking forward to it returning--there is not much else good on network TV these days.

Good to see it back.  Hope

Good to see it back.  Hope it comes back next season.  Hope to see a resolution to the KMN killer storyline.  Love Angie Harmon!
