Willow takes center stage in her own "Buffy" comic

If the Buffy comic just doesn’t have enough Willow for you — as if that were possible — I have news that will make your holidays bright. An entire, 40-page issue devoted to our favorite lesbian Wiccan will be released December 23.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Willow, which will be written by Joss Whedon and drawn by Karl Moline, is not a compilation of previous Willow stories, but an entirely new story, set before Season 8.

If you have been reading Buffy Season 8 (and you might want to skip this section if you aren’t caught up), you know that Willow was once a student of Saga Vasuki, a mysterious and seductive half-snake demon. In the story arc, “Wolves at the Gate,” we learned about the interconnection between Willow and Saga Vasuki. Then in “Time of Your Life,” Willow invokes Saga Vasuki to rescue Buffy from the future, where an evil Willow threatens her life.

What we don’t know is how Willow got so wrapped up in the snake woman in the first place.

We do know that something powerful happened between the destruction of Sunnydale and Willow’s appearance in Buffy Season 8 because she has some cool new powers like flying and teleporting. Looks like sexy Saga Vasuki may be responsible.

Regardless, I’m excited about the Willow one shot, especially since Joss himself is writing it. I just hope my comic store doesn’t close early for Christmas.

    Haha! Willow will DEFINITELY be on my Solstice list this year (although it's being released a little late for Solstice...)  and I'm sure everyone I know will also be getting a copy, whether they need one or not.  Never enough Willow!

    Anything Buffy I will get.  Willow is definitely one of my favorite characters.  I wish Josh would get this movie thing going like he did with Serenity.  Actually anything Josh does is really good so yes this will be on my wish list.

    I cant miss out on this, the season 8 comic exceeded my expectations. And I was left wondering wth about the snake. Thanks for the update, i'll be counting down the days!

    Can't really say I've rushed out for Buffy Season 8 (despite obvious reasons why I should, ohai experimenting Buffy!) but I'll give this a go because its Willow and Willow was my first girl crush WAY before she became gay (imagine my glee when she did).

    SOOO EXCITED!!!  I love Willow!  I had always wondered what little adventure she had gone off to.  I hope they do a great job with it, though I expect nothing less of Joss.

    Willow has been my favorite Buffy character since episode one. I'm so glad Joss has devoted 40 pages to her!!! And, come on! We're talking about JOSS WHEDON. He's not going to mess anything up.

    Been waiting on the trades to catch-up again but this is fantastic news.  

    Thank goodness for comics or there would be no fictional lesbians in the media anywhere

    I heard a rumour about this one-shot, can't wait till it comes out! Already a big fan of the Buffy season 8 comics, and also more than a little curious about what went on for Willow between season 7 and 8. December won't come fast enough :P

    I think LOGO could turn this into an animated TV series. Ive noticed a lot of their programming is just running movies. They need more original content
