"Us Weekly"'s Hot Hollywood List goes a little gayFor AfterEllen.com, one of the best things about the last few weeks of the year is the plethora of end of the year lists. And one of the first, “Hot Hollywood List” from Us Weekly, is more than a little gay, starting with the “Cast of the Year” — Glee.
As if we’re surprised. (Hi, Jane! Hi!) “Siren of the Year” is Olivia Wilde, aka bisexual Dr. Thirteen on House.
Olivia in that strapless gown definitely makes my list of things I’m thankful for this T-Day. “Girlfriend of the Year” is Jessica Capshaw, who plays pediatric surgeon Arizona Robbins and Callie’s love on Grey’s Anatomy.
I can’t find proof that this is the first time the GF o’ the year has been a lesbian (Arizona, not Jessica), but I think it’s a safe bet. And awesome. The list also includes some of our other favorites, who don’t play gay for pay, but definitely keep us interested. Jenna Fischer is “Employee of the Year” for her rise to power and general cuteness as Mrs. Pam Halpert on The Office.
Leona Lewis is “Chanteuse of the Year,” scoring big for The X-Factor and her amazing new album, Echo.
And another Echo is “Cult Fave of the Year” — Eliza Dushku for playing the hottest doll in all of television: Echo/ Caroline on Dollhouse. (Sniff.)

I think I just died a little
I think I just died a little bit because Jessica Capshaw is gf of the year. I LOVE HER. Really a lot.
And Eliza? DAYUMMMM.
Go here for my view on all things lesbian: http://allthingslesbeau.blogspot.com
Yay Arizona!
Despite the fail of a name, I LOVE LOVE LOVE Arizona!!! :D
Jessica Capshaw is dreamy. And I think that she and Callie should be nominated for some sort of GLAAD award, for being one of the only lesbian relationships left on network TV, and for seeming to function more or less normally!
I thought the name Arizona
I thought the name Arizona was kind of lame too, but during that speech to Callie's dad about the origin of her name and the story behind her name made me really love it.
I loooove Arizona too, such a great character.
I guess so
haha. Yes that was an
haha. Yes that was an awesome line. And "I am still a good man in a storm" made me love her even more.
I love her character.
:)
That was good. Very nice line.
But there's a certain repetitive quality to the Grey's monologues- It always opens with a really heartfelt statement or question, and ends with the same one. Ever notice that? :P
P.S. Screw the character- I love all of her! :D
haha nearly a month late in
haha nearly a month late in reply, but yes, they are repetitive, but when Jessica Capshaw does it, she just does it better. So I don't even notice. hahaha.
<3 Arizona, and <3 Jessica Capshaw.
OMG, I totaly just died a
OMG, I totaly just died a little too.
That woman is just amazing.

Oh Goody... :)
While I'm still teetering on the brink of extreme disappointment where Thirteen is considered Arizona is the bomb indeed!
Jessica Casphaw marks my second second generation hollyood crush (I was completely besotted by the lovely Ms. Kate Capshaw in 'SpaceCamp' - and the first multi generational would be the delectable Cybill and her Sapphic Sunshine Clementine)... Arizona is almost like Kim Lesgaspi 2.0 - strong, sweet, sensitive and at ease with herself - her speech to Callie's dad warmed my heart cos I wish somebody could say something like that on my behalf! And unlike Kerry Weaver, Arizona's loyalty and strength has been reciprocated by a dedicated and determined Callie! I love this coupling... I thank Jessica Capshaw for really bringing it - we deserve it!!

second generation
I so love kate capshaw, too, especially in "a girl thing", just a shame that elle macpherson was not very good in it.
but both mother and daughter are quite supportive of the gay community.
saw kate doing a part in "vagina monologue" in london, absolutely awesome...
so true!!
I couldn't agree more with this list on the "Girlfriend of the year"
Don't you ladies see this as a step forward??
Well, I'm just happy about it!
Absolutely!
You know, I was so sad
Mariska Hargitay AKA Olivia Benson
Mariska Hargitay should have been "Hottest Cop of the Past 10 Years" :D
Jimp...
Shane "Tasha"
OH my gosh.
GASPP!!!
glee cast, thirteen,
Yay, Arizona! I adore her
Jessica Capshaw a.k.a. Nadia
Meh. I don't think it's such
Meh. I don't think it's such a huge deal that they put "gay" tv show actresses on here. They just put them on there because they are hot.
http://lesbiandaily.blogspot.com/ <---Check it out. :]
Olivia Wilde... She could be
Olivia Wilde... She could be a debt collector and I think she'd still somehow make it onto that list!
Could arizona BE more
I just recently starting
I just recently starting getting US Weekly magazine. I was floored to see Jessica Capshaw's Grey's Anatomy character Arizona get the girlfriend of the year award. I'm so happy that Arizona got the award. I wholeheartedly agree with US Weekly. She was the most deserving person for the award. I'm a huge fan of Grey's Anatomy and never miss an episode. I have followed Callazone relationship closely. Callie and Arizona seem to really complement each other. Arizona has from the very beginning of her relationship with Callie been a devouted girlfriend. She was there for Callie when her father basically disowned her and cut her off financially. She was there when Callie was turned down by the Chief for a position as an attending Orthopedic Surgeon. She has been there for Callie through many rough times. No other t.v. or movie girlfriend was more deserving of the award for best girfriend. Way to go Arizona!!
P.S. I was so glad to see that an Afterellen blogger was on top of things in posting this news item. This is why I love Afterellen so much :D.
