Tricia Helfer moves to the "Warehouse"

We knew when we saw Jane Espenson’s name attached to the new Sci-Fi SyFy network series Warehouse 13 that a lot of alums from her previous series would doubtless make appearances.

Sure enough, we’ve just learned that AfterEllen.com favorite Tricia Helfer of Battlestar Galactica will guest star as FBI agent Bonnie Belski.

Warehouse 13, which premiers July 7 with a two-hour pilot, follows Secret Service agents Pete (Eddie McClintock) and Myka (Joanne Kelly) who are transferred to South Dakota, where a huge top-secret storage facility holds every unexplained object in the U.S. government’s possession.

Pete and Myka are assigned to investigate paranormal activity and collect new treasures for the warehouse. Saul Rubinek plays Artie, the warehouse’s caretaker.

Is it just me, or do McClintock and Kelly look like Bones stand-ins? Never mind that McClintock appeared in Bones. The similarities don’t stop with looks, as you can see in the Warehouse 13 trailer. (Yes, that’s the fabulous CCH Pounder.)

Helfer’s Bonnie initially butts heads with Pete and Myka when they interfere with one of her cases. But after a series of mysterious bank takeovers, she finds herself a bit more open to the agents’ expertise. Helfer spoke briefly to IGN about her role:

Other BSG alums already are on-deck for Warehouse 13, including Michael Hogan and Mark Sheppard. We’ll keep you posted as the series premier gets closer.

Is Warehouse 13 on your summer viewing schedule?

    oooh can't wait for this

oooh can't wait for this series.

Joanne Kelly played bisexual vampire Bianca in "The Dresden Files" (2 episodes) and she was amazing!

    yeah, they do seem similar-

-but I'm a sucker for sci/fi FBI shows where attractive people carry guns and make jokes about aliens... and no matter how many times they make this show (X-Files, Fringe, I'll throw Bones in there just for kicks...) I always love it.

    Whedon series?

I don't recall Tricia Helfer ever being in a Whedon series.  Clarify, please?

    I thought...

The same thing. I don't remember her being involved with Whedon directly, though I know Espenson is involved heavily in the Whedonverse and Battlestar Galactica. I would love for some folks involved in Whedon projects to be involved because in my opinion he usually pics strong casts and writers, including Espenson herself who has written and produced some of the best eps of my favorite shows.

    My bad

You are correct, of course. I changed direction after I started writing and then didn't change the opening. I will get it corrected asap - thanks for pointing it out!

    Tricia Helfer?

I saw her name and went "Whatever it is, I'm watching it." Because, people, I'll be frank here, I'd watch her do nothing. I'd watch her peel potatoes. Or hang laundry.

I mean, have you SEEN her? Jane Espenson is awesome, true. All kinds of awesome. She's one of my fave Whedonverse writers. The awesomeness of Jane is equal to the hotness of Tricia Helfer.

    Gimme a Red Dress...hehe...

Tricia Helfer is without a doubt one of Western Canada's greatest exports ever...I will support her as long as she has a career...

I just wonder - I grew up working on a farm in the Canadian Prairies - how come I didn't turn out just like that?! :)
